Located predominantly in the heartland of Cambodian immigrants in long beach. California, the babette, serves authentic French cuisine. The kitchen closes at 3pm, during lunch hour this bakery is always crowded. No reservations accepted the lines may be no longer but any patrons can find a table quickly. The meatloaf with mashed potatoes at $ 8.50 is a splendid dish to try. The meat is tender and moist. The mashed potatoes could do with some sort of gravy and little creamy. The potatoe dish was little dry, the bread roll was straight from the oven and fresh. The meatloaf dish is served an array of stir fried vegetables.the interior was great, the diverse staff members were quick and very customer service oriented. Excellent place for French cuisine.

I went to buy a cheesecake for my brothers birthday party since a friend reffered me to this place. Long story short I buy a chocolate cheesecake, but end up not being a cheesecake. One, she charges me 29.99 for the dam cake, I didnt find out till we cut the cake and buy that time it was too late. Im call the owner of the bakery next day and tell her my story and she just starts telling me that it was a cheesecake and thats how there cheesecakes are. I told her the cake was no cheesecake and she kept contradicting me. I got sooo mad that this lady would actually make me think otherwise. Beware of this place I rather go somewhere else and I wont be going to this place anymore.

So my girlfriend who spent a few years in Long Beach took me here on our first day in town cause she is addicted to macaroons... I felt silly so I got a Kahlua Ball and a French apple turnover.... Which all of these were great. The macaroons... I can see how she became an addict. I wish I had not eaten a stinky airport sandwich cause with their crispy bread their sandwiches would have been heaven.

This place is delicious. A wonderful variety of Bakery items. They also have lasagna, quiche , Delicious Fruit Salad. Fresh baked bread. The dining area is very small as most of their businesses take out. I have not gotten a single thing there that I did not like. Everything is delicious. The staff is very friendly and the restaurant is clean.

Service is great right as you come into the door. Lines are formed all the way out the door sometimes, because it is that great. Pastries are awesome and made freshly everyday. I had a panini one day and my mother had a chicken rice veggie soup, we both enjoyed our lunch. Servings are big and you arent left hungry.

Being not from the area and on foot I panicked and grabbed 1st place I saw which was Burger King. While recovering I found Babette Bakery. I tried not to look at the mouth watering breakfast fare around me. I had a couple of very flavorful pastries. SUPERB! Clean and crisp with friendly service.

Simply the best French bakery in town. Nothing fancy, just authentic French goodies. Dont even bother with 2nd street, this is the real deal. The baguettes and croissants are the closest youll get to Parisian.
