Absolutely empirically sub-par service, from the beginning to the end. This place advertises itself as Cajun - I brought my bona fide Cajun relatives here and when they asked for red cocktail sauce for the oysters - the waiter said that they didnt do that - maybe we could make it ourselves at the table - never provided the ingredients - and threw in the snarky unnecessary observation that we would not be able to taste the oysters if we did that. Of course, it took FIFTEEN minutes for the oysters to show up, from a place that pitches themselves as the best oyster handlers in PDX. The expensive beers in the tiny mugs are an insult to Portlandia, enough said on that point. The entrees showed up pretty fast. Well all but one. For a party of five four entrees showed up nearly on schedule. The fifth entree was at least five minutes later. This is a dinner buzzkill - restaurant cardinal sin. And youd think with the pricey beer theyd at least swing by once in a while to ask if wed like another. That never happened either. Granted this is anecdotal. Maybe a bad night for our pony-tailed waiter. But as an expense account traveler with a couple of hundred restaurant meals a year in major cities all over the world, I know bad service when I get it. Theres more to tell, partly because the experience felt endless, but Ill spare the audience...

I want to love this place- I do! The cocktails and oysters are fine, but the food is awful. The service was totally lackadaisical and haphazard... we had a few servers, no one introduced themselves, and we were clearly inconveniencing them and the kitchen staff by daring to order off the menu. Judging by the othr happy college students in the restaurant, we were doing it wrong. This is a place for oyster shots and SportsCenter, not an evening meal out with friends. The gumbo was unrecognizable to my cajun husband, he thought hed received the wrong order! And my friend made the mistake of looking up- which put us all off our food. The light fixtures have beads on them, a la Mardi Gras in NOLA, but no one has dusted them, probably ever. Do they not have a ladder? How do they change the lightbulbs without a pompeii event happening? The massive amounts of dust up there is as impressive as it is disgusting. I didnt trust anything coming out of the kitchen from that point forward. Yuck.

Im sure its hard to make an effort when youre expecting low tips from $1 oyster night, but the service was the worst Ive experienced in years. We ordered one round of oysters and one round of drinks. After 30 minutes without being checked on, a server snatched my empty beer mug out of my hands and walked away while I started to ask if we could order more. We physically grabbed a server after they ignored our eye contact and "Hey!"s, and ordered a second round. After a half hour it never came and we again had to physically bar somebody from passing so they would talk to us. "Ill check on that for you". It never showed up after another half hour, and we had to go to the counter to ask for the bill. Which of course had the missing round of food and drinks on it. I cant comment on the non-oyster food because they didnt offer us the chance to try any.

Ordered two half dozens and a po-boy. The food was tasty, BUT....there was no cocktail or mignonette sauce for the oysters??? Very plain presentation. The po-boy was delicious but kinda on the small side. No salt and pepper was provided for the french fries and the service staff seemed to be understaffed so asking for some was out of the question. Had two shooters, which were the best part of the meal. When we asked for some cocktail or mignonette sauce for the oysters I was made to feel like a hick for needing it. They should take a look at some of the other raw bars in the country to see that it is NOT weird to like a sauce to go with oysters. I have probably eaten more oysters than all the staff combined. I wont return again unless like this time I HAVE to have oysters and in No-Po.

Its nice to have a place to go that is relaxed and has a cool NOLA vibe and eat oysters on the half shell with a side of fried okra or frog legs. People are encouraged to draw on the walls in this laid back oyster bar. Oysters are great with the spicy vinegar that they put on the tables, the waiter even told me how to make the pepper infused vinegar at home. Service is sometimes slow but they have always been courteous. One time my friend and I were there for some dinner and ordered their bread pudding that they are not shy in saying that it takes some time to make it so allow time. The kitchen was backed up pretty far that night so while we waited for the dessert, they offered some complimentary wine. Now that is what I call service! Thanks EaT!

My husband and I were visiting family and we came here for an all family brunch. What a great place! We all sat at the same table, which made it very fun. The food was awesome - I had a biscuit with bacon, scrambled eggs and that yummy gravy. I had the home fries, also, which were very tasty with roasted garlic cloves. Since we were there on Sunday, there was a jazz band; the musicians were so good. My son even got them to sing "Happy birthday" to me plus I got to blow out the candle on some beignets (which were topped with powdered sugar). The wait staff was attentive, and were able to accomodate a huge family gathering. Next time were in Portland, we will definitely come back!

I ate here when it first opened, Like most people on here I really wanted to like it and was excited to see that Portland had a dedicated oyster bar.. The overpriced food didnt bother me what did thou was the long wait times.. I ordered 12 oysters and 1 bowl of turtle soup 45 min later i got the oysters and 20 min later i got the soup which was amazing and very good but it was cold like it had been partially microwaved..I also need to mention that I was 1 of only 2 people in the place at the time.. I personally will never be back but would suggest people to give the oysters a try at least once cause they are some of the best i have had in portland

The food here is delicious. The problem is the waiter. Hes in over his head and can be pretty rude. And he busses tables and then shucks oysters without washing his hands first. Thats got to be a violation of a health code. I feel like Im taking unnecessary risks with my health when I eat oysters here. Even though they are delicious. For me its just not worth the risk. And I hate paying someone to make me feel unwelcome. If you dont want any more customers, close down the restaurant then. Dont hang an open sign on the door if you dont want anyone to come in. Or, hire an oyster shucker. With clean hands.

Holy Trinity ! Nawlins fo rill ! The Crawfish Bread was perfect . Best BBQ Shrimp outside of the Cresent City. HEADS ON !!!!FINALLY!!! I cannot tell you how many decent versions I have had of this dish (ITS ALL ABOUT THAT SAUCE) that could have been a contender , except they went with standard issue shrimp. People !!! tThe orange colored fat in the shrimps head is what flavors the butter sauce. That and a ton of spices , Worcestershire, thyme, black pepper, cayenne pepper, garlic, lemon and like a pound of butter. Go now dip the toasted french bread in the sauce. Youll forget about the shrimp.
