Dear Food Hounds... I do believe that I have found a treasure... a diamond in the rough! At first glance, the front of the restaurant is set up like a Diner... well, a FINE Diner - offering patrons a clear view of the kitchen. The high ceilings and art deco style of the architecture throughout the rest of Cap City offered a unique, open and comfortable vibe in the form of a high-class restaurant. The booths are almost as big as the meals themselves as they fit five Hounds with ease! We started with few drinks from the bar that were out of this world! The Cap City Sangria (RED of course) was sweet and exploding with fruity flavor; possibly the best Sangria Ive ever had - smooth and terrific with no aftertaste. The Asian Pear Cooler tasted like a non-alcoholic orange-aid, topped with a small slice of the exotic Asian Pear. The Strawberry Lemonade with Stoli Strasberi vodka, Cointreau, strawberry puree & freshly squeezed lemon had a secret weapon - basil; a fresh and different taste. The Pineapple Finlandia had more than just a hint of pineapple... in this particular drink, huge chunks of cold pineapple soaked up the vodka flavor for noshing on after the drink was gone! On to the starting line-up... Cap City has a plethora of different items on their menu that are unique and equally as delicious! Also, ALL the dishes are generously proportioned; nobody goes hungry here. We were given a basket of their homemade Buttered Rolls which were fresh, warm and soft. Maytag Blue Cheese Potato Chips are a Cap City original - crunchy, lightly salted chips drowning in a delicious river of Alfredo sauce and fresh green scallions! Whod have thought that Alfredo and Bleu Cheese could work in such harmony? Thumbs up - WIN! We had the Maryland Crab Cake which was a hearty size; more of a fishy flavored crab cake - but not overwhelming. The slight spice came from the chili flake as the creamy basil aioli evens out the overall flavor behavior of the broiled lump of crab cake. All hail the Tamarind Glazed Chicken Wings... WIN! The crispy wings are stacked high, juicy and delicious while offering a light spice and a blast of sweet goodness - not Teriyaki; but similar. So, my WIN... the Blue Plate Feature; Cola Braised Short Rib! No knife needed fork tender beef short rib to die for. The meat literally just falls off the bone and melts in your mouth... I fell in love after the first intense bite! The sauce is BOSS (especially over the cheddar mashed potatoes) and tasted like a blend of Cola, Dr. Pepper and grrrravvy to create a concoction that would please the masses. The Balsamic Chicken had a beautiful presentation; a visual masterpiece with epic flavor behavior! The breasts of chicken were SO soft and easy to cut with a tangy twist in every bite. The buttermilk-chive potatoes were smooth, creamy and smothered with onion strings! Talk about BIG... the Cap City Diner Meatloaf was off the proverbial hook with a little taste of home. A thick slice of meaty awesomeness drizzled with an INCREDIBLE BBQ gravy that was paired with delish chili onion rings!!! Next, crispy Romano Crusted Chicken with moist garlic buttered noodles drowning in a roasted tomato cream sauce. The Romano cheese encrusted chicken patties were thin and unbelievably flavorful, crunchy and tasty. The Southern Fried Chicken sported a perfectly deep fried, crunchy, battered breast of poultry that was juicy, tender and moist in the middle. Also, the sweet fresh veggies were brightly colored and uber-good! I LOVED the NY Strip Steak with cheddar-chipotle mashed potatoes and chili steak sauce. Hint - dip the tatoes in that sauce... YUM! The sauce is BOSS; sweet and tangy - utterly delicious. Lastly, the Knife and Fork Chili Dog turned out to be a big, bad and killer concoction of yummy goodness... a Cap City tradition; this sliced hot dog is stuffed with shredded beef and/or pork, and then drizzled with cheddar, red onions and bright green scallions! WIN! Everything on their dessert menu is housemade & GINORMOUS!

My wife and I visited Cap City for our 10th anniversary on 5/20/17. Unfortunately, we left disappointed with our overall experience. We made a reservation and were seated on time. We ordered the bleu cheese potato chips, southern fried chicken, and romano crusted chicken. Unfortunately, the meal and service from that point forward were disappointing. We had hoped to enjoy a nice leisurely meal, but the bread, and main entrees were delivered within 5 min of ordering. While this would not normally be a problem, the entrées were delivered before the appetizer. When the appetizer arrived after the entrees, we requested it be returned because we wanted to enjoy it before the entrées. The waitress did apologize and removed the charge from our bill. However, the whole encounter necessitated an awkward exchange with our server. We were disappointed and confused with the whole ordeal because we thought it was a pretty standard expectation of restaurant service where appetizers should arrive before entrées. The waitress said a manager would be by to discuss, but that never happened. Additionally, while this was playing out, the table next to ours had a similar problem where their appetizer and mains were delivered at the same time. Additionally, those patrons also had to return an entrée due to an error. Our exchange combined with the neighboring table made for disappointing service and ambiance. The meal itself was okay. Neither dish was particularly well seasoned as both my wife and I had to add salt. My skillet beans were also inconsistently trimmed with stems remaining on a handful of them. By the end of the meal, we were just ready to finish our anniversary dinner and leave. Overall, the restaurant was busy and Cap City does not appear to want for customers, but we left disappointed by our visit and are unlikely to return for special occasions.

This was an interesting place, a old school diner setup to the left when you walk in, a bar to the right, and regular restaurant setup on back. I first got my side salad, not impressed to say the least. For the money you paid for it the could have hand made a salad instead of tossing a prepackaged mix into a bowl and bringing it out. The main dish I got was pretty good, Rosmary crusted chicken with buttered noodles on the side. Three thinly sliced pieces of chicken crusted, with a good helping of buttered angel hair noodle all on top of a tomato cream sauce. They brought out rolls but no butter or anything to spread on them. Main coarses were good, stay away from the salads, a little pricey for the place but I guess you are paying for the Cameron Mitchell name. Good casual place to take a date. P.S. Tip if you are impatient like me and do not want to wait long for a table call ahead. That is what I did and was seated on the dot.

I cant express how much this diner changed my day, while simply looking for "something" to eat for my wife and mother, I googled places near the Jamess Cancer center surgery center. Cap City came up and while attempting to get my mothers mind off dads 7 hr surgery we came over. Alexys YOU made the difference yesterday, for a brief moment we as a family got to "relax" thank you for taking time from your support busy day to help my mom and serve her a fabulous meal. The gesture of the cake to my wife as we were leaving (since we couldnt stay for dessert) to be enjoyed at the hospital will never be forgotten. I will recommend this diner to everyone I can you truly do care for your customers. To the Manager I noticed you where busy and wish I would have had more time to thank you personally but you have employed a great server with Alexys thank you so very much.
