I was going through Carthage Missouri area and pulled up restaurants and I always love to stop at the mom-and-pop shop always seem to have the best food granted not the best for you my brother and I went into this open seating restaurant nothing fancy something that fit into a small town atmosphere we were immediately greeted by Misty. I was craving fried catfish so I went with that. It was $7.99 I wasnt expecting much but Misty ensured me it was going to be plenty of food it came with a choice of potato I chose fully loaded baked potato that came with at least two pieces of real crumbled bacon and all the fixings I also had a choice of vegetable I chose green beans and a homemade roll I didnt realize it but a cup of soup of the day came with it it was homemade chicken noodle and it was delicious after receiving the catfish I would have to agree it was more than enough I will post the picture it was 2 large fillets. What I like most is that it was lightly battered great flavor but they do season it so try it before you salt it it was amazing! My brother chose the pork tenderloin sandwich and fries he also received the chicken noodle soup came with his sandwich was $5.99 this appeared to be just your typical frozen pork patty nothing spectacular about it my brother said that it wasnt seasoned at all. The fries were fresh and crisp but after eating part of my fillet he regretted not making the same choice that I did. After dinner we found out that a small scoop of ice cream came with our dinners I especially thought that was a nice touch. You can verify my reviews I rarely if ever give a 5-star but its difficult for me to pass up on at least my dinner with the amount of food I had for $7.99 to get a bowl of soup your main course and then a dessert you never see that anymore job well done Carthage Family Restaurant and a shout out to Misty her small-town customer service was a big part in me wanting to come back. I would definitely recommend Carthage Family Restaurant

Dont stop in here. The service sucked sat there for 15-20 mins waiting for someone to come ask me if I needed anything, I did need a to go box. I got one refill my cup was empty most of the time I was there. The food Sucked there was no taste to anything . Now my real problem is I asked the waitress for help ordering bc I am pregnant I cant eat pork (baby doesnt like it) so I ordered biscuits and gravy hash browns and scrambled eggs. So the biscuits were hamberger buns with SAUSAGE gravy, after telling her I cant eat pork she didnt once tell me that there was sausage in it. The hash browns were not cooked all the way and the eggs, I dont know what those were but they are not scrambled eggs they didnt even looks like eggs and they are chewy. I will not be eating there or recommending it to anyone. If you are reading this to find a good place to eat in town go to the deli on th square.

The wife and I ate here couple times a month for the last 5 years or so. Love their breakfasts! We went in last week to get breakfast and...Lo ! theyd closed the smoking section (due to internet reviews). Noticed there was no one at all in the smoking section. Its usually pretty full at breakfast time. We walked out after the waitress told us why theyd closed it. Seems to me, the smoking section was one of their big draws.....considering it was the only one in Carthage with one. Couldnt the non-smokers and complainers just go somewhere else, theres at least 20 other restaurants without a smoking section. Anyway, the wife and I still like to smoke after a meal and we used to enjoy sitting in there and chewing the fat with the other guys. But...no more. No reason to drive across town just because they have good hash browns...well just go to Iggys now.

We always enjoy visiting the Carthage Family Restaurant when coming from out of town to visit family. They have a big breakfast selection, the portions are filling and priced right. The coffee was a little watered down on this most recent visit. The service is prompt and filled with mid-west country charm. My only hesitation in patronizing this establishment is the smoke smell spilling from the smoking section. They have an entirely separate smoking room which Im sure smokers find extremely welcoming. As a non-smoker, I wish they would find a better way to cleanse the air or change the ventilation so that the smell doesnt flood into the none smoking area.

Penny pincher of a owner, we are regulars, we order same thing as we like it, once a week, he changes that without notifying us after we ordered it and then puts it on the bill at a higher rate! then proceeds to argue the fact that he can;t afford to do this with everyone! This 60 cents cost him a bi-weekly customer! Lets see 60 cents a week compared to 35-40 dollars? Just does not compute! We have noticed that food quality had gone from very good to just good lately, and if not for waitress we liked we probably would have stopped going over a year ago!

Sometimes, the best places to eat are off the beaten path. My wife and I had dinner here this evening, based on a review. We had some of the best chicken noodle soup ever, followed by a fresh green salad, 1/4 fried chicken that was to write home about, with yummy green beans, a perfect baked potato and fresh HOT dinner rolls. To top it off, a scoop of delicious Strawberry ive cream for me and a scoop of vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup. All for $ 6.99 each. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Well, the first day we went there it was great! OE Eggs were perfect, hash browns were superb, and bacon was big and crisp. Biscuit was good! First day rate Would rate it at 4.5 only because we had to flag the waitress down for more coffee. Second morning was a bust! Hash browns were burnt on the edges, the over easy eggs were over well done. Bacon was good, biscuit was good but had to flag the waitress down three times for more coffee. Different cooks we were told!

I live in area and I have enjoyed many dining experiences here. Especially noting the German omelette! A large omelette filling the plate, along with side of potatoes.... This omelette is incredible! Potato lovers, HASHBROWNS IN THE OMELETTE!!! Yes thats right! This gives the omelette more flavor and is more filling too! 4 of 5 STARS!!!! 5, rare bird.... this food is amazing!!!!! Try it to believe it!!!!!

An unexpected surprise. We stopped in after dealing with Eclipse traffic all day and just wantwd food. We were met by a friendly waitress who provided great service. Portions are huge and priced well below similar places. The liver was tender and tasty, mashed potatoes and gravy were delish, and the ice cream for dessert was free! A really great value for a very tasty meal.

Was great! Misty was my server. I love a Family Restaraunt with friendly waitress & a good home cooked meal. There is a smokers room & a family room. A little too much smoke escaped from the smokers room. But, hey, thats an easy fix. Ill be back next time through. (Say some prayers for waitress Beth who lost her home to a fire)
