I am absolutely APPALLED at my recent experience with this place! I am a long time customer of this coffee shop, and over the course of the past few years, the quality of both the coffee and the staff have dropped to the point that I would recommend just about ANYWHERE else. I am currently a student teacher working with children and young adults with autism and I stopped here after work with my fiance to plan an upcoming vacation. After having sat down for all of three minutes, a woman named Vicki came outside, as rudely as ever, and told me that I need to buy something to do business there. I had barely sat down and I told her I DID plan on purchasing a coffee in just a minute. Im sorry that I was dressed up, I WAS AT WORK, and now looking for a nice relaxing coffee. After asking for the womans name (assuming she was an underpaid and upset barista) she told me she was the OWNER. Well, VICKY, I will NEVER be going near your establishment again. That level of rudeness was COMPLETELY uncalled for. I also want to mention that there were maybe 3 other customers, I now see why. Last year the coffee shop was going out of business (probably because no one there seems to care about the coffee or the customer service) and there was an offering to keep it open. If your business needs to accept donations to stay open, and then you are still incredible rude to those who show up to buy coffee, then you DESERVE to be out of business. I hope you are reading this Vicky, and that you know that YOU ALONE are the reason that I will be telling anyone willing to listen to avoid your shop like the plague.

Its amazing. It feels like youre at home, with the vintage furniture and hospitable staff it is a welcoming and absolutely sublime place. I drove out 25 minutes to visit it for the first time, and I have to say I was not disappointed. And everything tastes so authentic and fresh, it puts coffee chains to shame and lives up to the true standard of coffeehouse culture. The live music, art patronage, and even the dress of the staff adds to the ambiance as well as the authenticity. This spot is frozen in time and bursting with character and culture. I would definitely check it out if thats what youre looking for. *However, if you are not into more rustic things, I would not recommend it. It features no metals and sharp edges for the modern conservative, so be wary of that fact, but the food and coffee is still guaranteed good! I hope this in depth analysis helped lol

Great place with a calm vibe. House made sandwiches are delicious. Great shakes blended in house. Decent selection of beers coffe and deserts as well. Since its such a calm place to hang out they have a policy that you much buy something when you come here. They have stuff like open mi c and comedy shoelws knvarious nights. Great place for a calm night woth live music or quiet place to do homework with a drink. They also have a couch you can play video games on and a couple gambling machines in the opposite corner. Outdoor and indoor seating. Live shows upstairs. I reccomend the Jake&Elwood sandwich with a toasted almond shake.

Awesome place! Come here very often and bring everyone I know. I usually get house coffees and sometimes a specialty drink. The bakery treats are great. I always come here with any friends I bring into town or in the area. Awesome atmosphere. Vicky is great and very kind, talk to her very often. For all the people on here complaining about "being dirty" or "run down" or even the political views that are just jokes are insane. Thats how its supposed to be. You want a fancy professional place? Go to Starbucks.

I didnt visit recently, probably about 6 months ago but honestly didnt know they were listed! Anyway, this place has a very dark, dirty vibe. Not only was there barely any lighting, the furniture was very outdated, the carpet was old and worn out, and it had a a funky smell in the air. I reluctantly got a coffee but refused to get any food because of fear of getting food poisoning. Definitely wont be back!

Ive been a customer for many years and have always recommend Ashbary but today on my daughters birthday you lost this family and our friends as customers I see its a trend for you guys. rudness doesnt pay off especially when there is no need so when u need help remember its your customers that help u. But you keep losing loyal ones by being rude

Ashbary is such a beautiful place no matter who you are. Whether youre there to stop in for a quality drink or to stay an hour or two to catch up with friends, the experience is different each time. Theres traditional seating at tables, two couches to lounge on, or lots of outdoor seating to choose from. This place has a special spot in my heart.

I have been here a couple times in the last year. It is run down and so is the furniture, but that seems to add to the coffee houses attitude. Its a low key, chill, little nook of a place. Their drinks taste great but are over priced. This place is for the average joes who just want to sit and talk with their friends or be alone over coffee.

Very unique atmosphere. Its a chill place to hang out with friends, or alone to work. Youll often see people on their laptops here, so it wont be out of place for you to bring yours. The staff is also lively and great to be around. My favorite drink so far is their warm cherry cordial. Just remember, no outside food or drink!

Im sorry but this was 5 star until they put in those video gambling things. The vibe is so different now.. Its hard to sit and chill when youre picking up vibes from the compulsive gambler in the room.. I dont like it anymore and that upsets me because i loved that place and promoted it like it was my job. I cant go there :(

Entertaining selection of coffee---though anything with syrup usually comes un-stirred. Staff is a cross b/w inattentive & self-involved or disarming & boisterous. 5-Stars for their evening events__Open Mics, Inprov, Stand-up, Drag shows... the works. Overall friendly demographic. It feels like its been there awhile.

Digging the sandwiches, creative drinks, and fun atmosphere! Ive been here for lunch and a quick bite for dinner, I personally think the sandwiches are very filling and reasonably priced! The owners are very nice! Ample parking, too. Open mic on wednesday late nights and live shows on weekends every now and then!

It has been 40 minutes already and Im still currently waiting for my 2 sandwiches... The delay doesnt seem to phase them. All 3 staff currently working are apathetic and/or rude. No business with such a lack of concern for customer satisfaction should be in business. 45 minutes now... still no food.

NEVER pass this place up. The staff is amazing, the drinks are great, and their events are always fun! Ive been going to the place since I was in high school and even though Ive moved further away, I still go back every once in a while for a Cafe Vanilla Mocha - so good!

Ive been going here since high school. Good atmosphere, good drinks and simple food menu items. Lost a little of its comfort space since the took out some bookshelves and sofas to install gambling machines, but overall still a good place to hang out.
