I was excited, ended up hugely disappointing. Extremely rude service, horrific experience. We were looking for a japanese restaurant with a more authentic japanese feel to make our regular spot (we love japanese food), and ended up here a couple of weeks ago. We got there 1hr and 10min before closing, and were ready to make it as quick as possible. There were a couple of other tables occupied. Walking in the place looks inviting, with private party rooms on the sides with tatami and decorations looking nice. We were not done sitting down when the waitress says "we close in an hour, you know?", to which we replied yes we do, we will make it quick. She hands over the menus and walks away. Literally behind her, another waitress walks the step it took for her to get to our table from where she was, and says "what are you having, what are you having?". We have not even opened the menus, not even grasped it with two hands to open it. We try our sweetest voice and explain we only need 2min to look over the menu, to which she replies, in a rude voice "we close in 45min, are you going to order?" (remember what I said, 1hr & 10min?). We just looked at each other with disbelief and looked down at the menu while explaining again, we will make it quick. Looking back, we should have just walked out. About a minute and a half pass and she comes back, again rude, trying to rush us. We order the first thing that comes to mind. Food comes and the waitress stayed hovering around our table, taking away the soup and salad bowls before we even put it back down on the table. This whole treatment made us incredibly uncomfortable and we decided to just ask for to-go boxes. She comes back with them, and the bill, and stands next to our table waiting for it. Again, she does not even let us put down the plates or utensils before she snatches them from us and takes them away. We paid, took our food to finish at our homes, feeling like that was one of the strangest and worst service we have gotten at a restaurant ever. We dont even remember the food or how it was. If you cannot take clients anymore, let us know at the door, and we will leave to find some place else. Though an hour and 10min should be enough for someone to eat, if you dont want anymore business that day, let us know, instead of treating us like undesirable nuisances.

My wife and I enjoy Sushi at least once a week. We consider Midoris one of our favorite sushi restaurants and continue to recommend them for their great food, presentation, atmosphere and service. The creations of the Head Sushi Chef - Roberto are the best sushi rolls weve ever tasted. Try the Dynamite Shrimp and Spicy Shrimp Salad to start then move on to the Roberto Special Maki, Spider Maki and end with the Green Line Maki with jalapenos. This is truly a relaxing and tasty way to spend an evening!!!

I have been going to Midori for years and Chef Roberto is the best. The rolls are huge and very well priced and very tasty. I highly recommend this place there are lots of things to try but we especially like the dragon rolls and Robertos special roll. The dynamite shrimp is amazing.

Ive had high end sushi, low end sushi and everything in between. Unassuming and unpretentious, Midori is simply the best place for sushi in Chicago. Sit at the bar for the best experience, but the tatami rooms are great for larger groups. If you love sushi, you have to stop here!

The tuna was very fresh and everything was presented very nicely. Better than most of the sushi places in that around this area in that they pay attention to details. The all you can eat places are a better deal but quality is better here.

Pricey for the location and interior design, was bit run down. Good food (3.5 stars), comes with complimentary side dishes and dessert fruit. Great friendly service (4 stars). Would come back again with family.

Soups are the best around. Bento box for lunch will not leave you hungry. Miso is magnificent. Greentea with a touch of brown rice flour. OUT OF THE WORLD.

Fresh fish and friendly staff. The complementary sides are wonderful too, sweet pickles and spicy green beans with mushrooms. All around great experience.

This place is definitely the best value in Japanese cuisine in Chicago. $20 will get you some sushi, tempura, and a cooked protein entree.

Very good sushi at a reasonable price. The inside is also very beautiful- I cant wait to come back with a group to use a tatami mat room!
