I normally avoid writing bad reviews since I know experience can vary depending on time, person, etc. Unfortunately this didnt seem to be the case here. I have had worse experiences, but Ill just describe the experience and let you decide how youd feel. First impression, parked on the side of the building with the most vehicles, turned out that part of the parking lot was blocked for a live band to setup, they didnt try to move the barricade and my family and I had to walk the long way around the building. Alright, no big deal, just chose the wrong side, entered the building, absolutely wonderful decorations, there was a huge fountain inside that was beautiful, the ceiling and interior was nicely decorated. We were promptly greeted and taken to our table, unfortunately the tables were so close together there wasnt much of a walkway. I stopped as the hostess squeezed past two chairs with people sitting in them and waited, she never turned to ask them to politely scoot in for a bit. I was carrying my baby and wasnt as skinny as her so I asked the people myself to kindly scoot in a bit. Once again, that alone no big deal, just an oversight of one individual, in the service industry its your job to accommodate paying customers. It took awhile to finally get a server, about 10-15 minutes, but he was very nice and professional through the entire stay. The food. I wish I could say all the inconveniences were remedied by a wonderful meal, but I cant. The first issue we had, they asked what we wanted to drink, I asked for a Sprite(was wifes turn to drink so I was designated sober) their soda machine was out of order. After my wife finished her beverage she asked for a water, the water came and tasted like the carbonated water you get from a soda machine if the sprite syrup runs out(Im probably not the only one who has experienced this). Next the queso, not bad, but had a weird taste to it, could just be personal preference. Finally the main course came, it didnt taste bad, but was nothing impressive. So we paid thinking, "no big deal, weve had worse" that was until the ride home. That was a miserable drive to say the least and the restrooms were a welcome site once we arrived at home.

Do not go to this restaurant. We chose this place to go after my sons graduation on 6-8-13 & will not ever return!! We waited an hour for our table even though we called in advance. They had only one waiter for our party of 28. And it took almost 45 minutes for him to get drink orders & bring them out. Then finally after complaining they had someone else help him get food orders but after being there already almost 2 hrs some ppl were so starving they left to eat someplace else. It took more than another hr after we ordered before they would bring out any of the entrees ordered. The rice was only partially cooked. They didnt bring out what we had ordered from the menu but just started bringing out whatever food they had available because as we later found out they had run out of food but never bothered to say anything. Some of the food was cold & some just thrown on the plate half falling off. We repeatedly asked for a manager but the owners daughter who was the manager would just run & hide never apologized & then snuck out if the restaurant leaving the staff there to deal with it, which they didnt know what to do. No apologies & only a minimal discount was given on only some of the tickets. The original Donerakis on Fulton was great but this big Donerakis on woodridge, never again will they see my money!! Horrible place & bathrooms were nasty & unkept as well!!

I am posting a review for those interested in working here. I worked here couple of years and stayed long enough to know better. I want to advice u to keep all your clock Ins and clock out tickets and save them. This company cuts hours, dont pay for meetings or cleanings. They make u pay food errors which I recently found out through labor that its illegal. I would advice you to inform yourself with labor laws. They have all these mandatory things and dont pay. I guess your wondering why I stayed there. Well to tell u the truth they have amazing customers you learn to love and appreciate them. Also some of their staff thats been there for years are one of a kind. Its just sad how this great company who gives charities to the community has come to a point where they screw the people who work hard for them. I was once told when the parents ran the business they were awesome. Now its in the hands of their daughter Alexandra Rodriguez. Maybe she should go back in time to see why Doneraki was once such a great hit. Employees were happy and so were the customers. Hopefully this review will help stop it. Since everyone is afraid to speak out or dont take time to aware others of the truth.

I feel like I need to defend my presence here -- so let me just say that its just a convenient lunch location. Which must be true for a lot of people -- the place is typically fairly busy at lunch time, and it cant be for the quality of food. About the only thing the place had going for it was the queso that came with the chips and salsa... but apparently now thats been limited to a single cup of faux cheese. On occasion, the salsa can be... decent. From there, its just a crap shoot of what greasy, low quality meat entree youre in the mood for. Literally. Its mostly bland, marginally palatable fare that seems to all taste the same and use grease as its main seasoning. The tortillas are just... sad. As doughy as they usually are, they remind me more of unsweetened crepes than tortillas. Unless something better and equally convenient presents itself, Ill be stuck going here... but it wont be long before Ill just start ordering a salad. ...and my one cup of queso.

Not impressed. The restaurant is nice visually, however the food and drinks left a lot to be desired. The queso and salsa were fine - nothing special but nothing bad. Happy hour margarita was decent - what you would expect from a happy hour drink. Unfortunately my chicken dinner was terrible. Dry and tough chicken breast, basic refried beans, and the rice was unpleasant at best. The chicken was so dry and un-flavorful I ordered another margarita to wash it down...The second margarita (skinny rita) was also just ok and nothing special. I usually take half of my meals home with me for lunch the following day. I tried eating the chicken the second day adding some hot sauce and it was still awful. Two bites then I gave up and fed it to the dogs. Two drinks, two meals and an appetizer - almost $70 next time Ill spend it elsewhere. Service was fine.

Food taste and quality is okay. Service is lacking. Arrived just after 5pm on a Sunday. The restaurant wasnt even half full, and we still had to wait 15 minutes for a table for two! Waitress seemed confused about what was on the menu. Food took over 20 minutes to get to our table. It wasnt hot - lukewarm at best. The mole enchiladas were a little bland. The flautas were tasty, but again, the food was not hot. There were hardly any beans in the small bowl of charro beans. The waitress just seemed confused the whole time. I remember when eating at Doneraki used to be a real treat because of the high quality of the food and service. It used to be our favorite Mexican restaurant in Houston. Not anymore, unfortunately. With some effort and employee training, it has the potential to be really good again.
