Not bad, not great. If standard, no-frills American food with little flare and a small-ish beer selection is fine with you, then Longboard may be a good choice for your next downtown Huntington Beach outing! Longboard is conveniently situated just off of the Huntington pier on Main St. Like nearly every other restaurant on the strip, Longboard has a fairly narrow storefront with a back patio and a convenient outdoor seating area near the street. The number of brews on tap are few, but whomever is in charge has done a fairly good job with the selection, offering a bit of everything, even if the choices are more limited than I would personally like. Service was great and I really enjoyed the attentiveness of our server. She knew the food and was in good humor throughout our visit. However, the food was mediocre at best (and I generally like "pub" food). The fries were completely unseasoned (as in utterly tasteless) and their sandwiches were rather bland, as well. The Cheesesteak, touted as "Bruces Best" on the menu, is a seriously disappointing attempt if youve ever had a half-decent cheesesteak before. The homemade pasta salad was tasty as a side, but too heavy and oily to eat very much of. The egg dishes were very basic fare and the pesto chicken sandwich was "ok", but nothing any of us would likely order again. The quality of the food at Longboard is fine, but its inexcusably unexciting. This is where you go when you have a family of picky "meat and potato" eaters or are really new to the area and want to play it absolutely "safe" on the food front. If youre hoping for a creative dish or something to earn your tastebuds respect, you wont find it here. All in all, Longboards wasnt a bad experience. It was a nice meal with good service, but they probably dont deserve a Main St. presence for what they offer. Aside from the decent, albeit somewhat limited, beer selection, there is little reason to choose Longboard over one of the many other eateries that line Main Street in every direction. Still, its a Main St. classic and some will find comfort in its straightforward offerings.

I watched a Mexican tourist discriminated here tonight in a really shameful display by their bouncer "Mike". He showed his passport and was turned away, as the bouncer said he would only accept a drivers license. When the man explained he was a tourist, here on visa, and was required to use the passport as his government issued ID, the bouncer told him to get lost. So... according to this bouncer, foreigners (as well as those that do not drive) cannot attend Longboard? I was upset by the way the man was treated and turned away for nothing more than being a Mexican national, so I spoke up and told Mike that a passport is a form of government issued ID, too. The exact response I received: "I dont care. Im the bouncer, so now that youve wasted my time, you can go join him, since youre not getting in either." Wow!! I was disgusted by this point, but trying to keep my calm. I realized I could get nowhere with the bouncer, so I asked to speak to a manager. And was then told "Youre not speaking to my manager. You cant get past me, so youre not speaking to anyone. **** off." He then stood up and took a step forward in a display of intimidation. As a young, small statured woman, the threatening tone and body language were ridiculous. I hadnt yelled or threatened or even made a scene, Id only asked to speak to management for clarification. It was the most unprofessional, intolerant, and upsetting display Ive ever seen. Everything about it was completely uncalled for. Fortunately, two onlookers were also upset by it, and offered their information to both me and tourist, in case we chose to file a complaint. At minimum, the four of us will likely be reaching out to the owner to clarify their identification policy, and inform them of the lack of professionalism exhibited by their staff member (even if that WERE the policy, what a horrendous way to treat people). I truly hope this was an isolated incident and not the philosophy of Longboard. At best it was bullying. At worst, discrimination. I am completely revolted by the experience.

Came to LongBoards Restaurant for the first time in my life - honestly the best quesadilla ive ever had in my entire life. I was bar-hoping with my brother and his board-member when we found this place. The reason why our food was so great was because of our cook named Daniel. Daniel made our experience amazing. Because of him, we will not only be coming back, but be telling our friends to visit this great place and ask for him as our cook; weve been around the world and have eaten at very nice places, but Daniels cooking at this joint has been outstanding. Thank you

Fantastic beer selection, with the option of beer flights, which I love! I didnt eat, but my friend had the beer cheese soup, which she said wasnt very good. My only real complaint is that it was incredibly loud in there. We would have stayed longer, but after 2 hours of screaming to each each other (there were only two of us, sitting side-by-side at the bar), our voices were giving out. Id go back to watch a game, but probably not for a happy hour.

Went here after a long day at the beach. Its close to the pier and has great seating options. The food was great. Cheese sticks for an appetizer were brough out fast which was greatly appreciated. Fish and Chips were cripsy and perfect. My burger was great and came with sautéed mushrooms, grilled onions and swiss extra. Will be back if I make the trip out there again. Good beer selection too.

Been going there for years, with fingers crossed. When the waitresses are busy, the food comes out late and cold sometimes. We order the Weds. prime rib plates which are killer. Food wise Id give it a 5 star. All the dishes are seasoned and cooked well, including their specials. We prefer lagunita IPA beer, which sometimes is rotated out, and we struggle with the remaining choices.

They had 2 1# lobsters for $20 and a steak add-on for $8. We also got a beer and a margarita (with the shaker) for a five-spot each. They didnt mind that my wife and I and daughter were all sharing off the plate. The lobster was perfectly done, and the steak was a good value. Not incredible, but hit the spot. A great value and a nice outdoor bar atmosphere. We had a blast.

We enjoyed a meal here after a day on the beach and before driving back to Phoenix. My Fish and Chips were great, accompanied by a fantastic tartar sauce. Lots of people were here for the lobster, as several were served at the tables around us, so that must be good. I regret not having purchased a tee shirt. I will be back next time I am in the area.

Ive been here a few times in the past on my visits to HB. Here today I learned the ownership changed. The food quality has gone was down IMO. The hashbrowns were McDonald type and very greasy. The band was nice but way too loud for a Sunday morning in the small space. Ill be exploring other options for Sunday breakfast on my next visit.
