Okay, okay fine. Ill write a review. The waiter already recognizes my friend and I. I was trying to keep this place a secret, but here it is folks~ Best kept secret of the uptown park. You will most likely miss it if you dont look for it. Go here if you want to try to impress your non-foodie friends. Service is excellent, but a tad bit slow because they want you to enjoy your experience there. The check only comes when you ask for it. Food is awesome. PERIOD. I highly recommend their Foie Gras, Tartare de Boeuf (Beef Tartare), Marinière, and Escargots à la Bourguignonne. My absolute must is the Marinière. It is essentially mussels in white wine, cream and parsley. It is served with pommes frites and garlic aioli. The mussel are nice and plump. The creamy wine sauce make the mussel broth milky and dipping-worthy. The garlic aioli is to die for. I love anything with garlic, its just so good. In France, they usually serve you fries so etoile does the same. Although, I would like bread to soak up that sauce goodness. Unfortunately, the entrees arent that impressive and its just mediocre, but those items listed above is good enough to make me keep coming back. I have tried their steak in chardonnay reduction, burgers, and so on. I come here for light lunches, but ultimately for brunch! On Sundays, I never made reservations and seatings are always available. Definitely will always come back...see you soon etoile~

Everything about Etoile is simple and understated, from the restaurant itself to the staff and on to the food. A gentleman greeted us upon arrival and he was simply cheery and charming. Our server was there when we needed him, away when we did not require anything and took great care of us. The service was, as I like to say, "paced." It wasnt fast and some might say it was slow, but I think its relaxed just enough so people can enjoy their time with each other and their meal without feeling rushed. The food was fresh and delightful. Every dish I tried, I could taste what mattered, the food, and was not overwhelmed by spices and added flavors. I would have loved for the dessert to be a bit bigger, but...honestly, it was probably a reasonable portion, rather than the normal Texas portion. Great experience and I look forward to going back soon!

Despite it being an ultra-busy Friday night and the last weekend of HRW (Houston Restaurant Week) we were accommodated with a same-day reservation. Surprisingly the weather was nice enough to sit outside, which was a much quieter and calmer atmosphere. Service was ok, but the food came out fresh and fast!! We LOVED the apps. My personal fav was the beef tartar and my husband loved his escargots. The main courses were plated beautifully with delicious, thoughtful sides. Two thumbs up to the duck and braised beef!! Dessert was inventive and delicious. All in all, we will definitely go back again soon. And we would recommend.

My boyfriend and I came here on a Monday night, and it was wonderful. We showed up a little after 9 without realizing they closed at 10, and all of the staff was very accommodating. The food quality was amazing. I had the lobster bisque, the salmon with pureed celery root, mushrooms, and onions, and some kind of chocolate thing with coconut ice cream and mango sauce for dessert. It was all tasty. Our server, Didier, was phenomenal. His service was perfect and not at all fake or forced. I cant wait to come back and try more of the food.

We love visiting this place. The food taste is constantly the same. The full bar make it eassy. The servers take a little long to serve you but I guess since this place is busy they do their best. They need tonput more eye on how they clean restrooms. Most of time its dirty. Also entrance also cutlery needs to be polish most of time they have water stains, also glasses lipstick. Little details but amazing duck steak. Kepp it up. :)

Delicious is the first word that comes to mind. I came for HRW and every course was excellent. I did notice, though, the chef seems to favor lemon seeing as I could taste it in several of the foods. This is not a problem for me seeing as I love citrus. As for the service, it was excellent, probably the best Ive had in a while. I definitely would go again and am glad I got a chance to try out this place.

First, the good. Our waitress was awesome. She took good care of us and was a lot of fun. This place also has a nice, cozy atmosphere. Good for a date or intimate meal. But...the food was just okay. I had the tom kai and pad thai, two of my standards at thai places. Neither impressed me. The dishes werent bad, they just didnt delight my tastebuds and I found the flavors in the food a bit uninspired.

Perfectly executed classic French cuisine. We opted for the four course charity menu. The portion sizes were just right, not ridiculously small and not so large that we would feel too full at the end of the meal. Everything was cooked, seasoned and presented just right. The cuisine is not imaginative but if the Chef sticks to the classics with such perfect execution, what more can you ask for ?

Just what you expect from a real French restaurant. From the setting, to the menu, to the waiters, the chef, the wine...everything was perfect. We had a bottle of wine that cost just a few bucks more than on any other store and it was delicious. The food was amazing with great taste. If you want to try real French food you definitely need to come here.

In the Uptown Park area, Etoile features some pretty good French food. The mussels are perfectly cooked in a lemon sauce. The seafood risotto also showcased their skill in cooking seafood. The most impressive thing was the dessert. Pistachios and raspberries have never paired together in my mind, but their pistachio napoleon quickly change my mind.

very attentive service and professional. order beef tartare and escargot as apps, seasoning is on the lighter side compare to others in town but still very delicious. seafood risotto and steak entrée were cooked perfectly. however, the highlight is the dessert, must try the Pudding aux Poires. wines are moderately priced for this part of town.

This is a marvelous restaurant. The food taste was the best I have had in years. I have been in 70 cities in last two years and this was the best. Service fantastic! Food most delicious! Five star ++++ at reasonable cost for such quality. I highly recommend. Dale Richards, Bountiful, Utah resident. International Speaker

My girlfriend and I went during restaurant week and had a great time! The portions were a good size, delicious flavors, and probably as close as you can get to authentic French cuisine! The wait staff was super knowledgeable on all of the wines, food menu, and made excellent recommendations!

We enjoyed the ambiance and the food at Talulas. Went after a matinee with friends. There was quite a crowd, even though it was early, but the staff did a great job. Didnt get to the bar, but it looked like people were really enjoying it there as well. Have recommended it to friends.

I have spent significant time in France. Letoile delivers authentic French plates but the wine is grossly overpriced. Interior is a little to modern and is a little lacking in French character. Overall, a solid restaurant but could be even better with a few tweeks.
