We were really excited to come back and try something new. Having been there several times before, there were a couple of dishes that we tried and can honestly say that we really enjoyed. There were even a couple that we didnt enjoy as much, but least enjoyed trying. Unfortunately, I decided to order the Pad Thai that night and it was the worst decision I ever made. I have NEVER thrown away a dish in my life and have forced my way through plenty of bad ones but......you get the picture. It was horrible. I ended up getting the cashew chicken, which by the way, is one of the only things that I can safely recommend to your customers now because of your business practices. What I dont understand, and maybe you can clarify this to those of us who are willing to take the risk, the time, the effort, and not to mention our hard earned dollars, to come to your restaurant, is why you would force your customers to pay for something that they dislike. Especially when you want your clients to expand their food knowledge and try different things on the menu. Your server was so embarassed about your policy she insisted that we not leave a tip. She felt so bad and all she cared about was making sure we came back. (She was doing your business for you on her dime...sad!!!) Dont worry... my policy is quite different from yours . I tipped her because she provided me with a quality product (her service). I even tipped her on the Pad Thai portion of the meal. I know you can cite being small, having large overhead, etc.....but arent you aware, especially in the your industry, that building a client base is the most important thing? Like I mentioned at the top, I was a repeat customer who was really excited to hear that you moved in to our neighborhood. What you ended up showing me though is that youre really not interested in putting out a good product. Youre more interested in the bottom line. Unfortunately for you, they typically go hand in hand. Youre extremely popular now becuase youre new. People will put up with crap if its popular. But unless you change your way of thinking, your restaurant might end up being another statistic. Sadly, after reading through some of these other reviews, its seems like my experiences were similar to several others. I hope you figure out a way to resolve these issues. I honestly would like to see you become a viable part of the neighborhood and will whole-heartedly retract my statement if you figure it out.

My wife, who is a 1st generation Asian immigrant, and I, a caucasian guy who spent his childhood in Asia as a missionary kid, consider ours to be very qualified opinions regarding the various asian cuisines. Last night we went to Mango. We would rate it as being in the top 1 or 2 Thai restaurants in the Twin Cities. I had the Basil Duck, which I quickly inhaled, and then I started sharing my wifes Pad Thai, which was the best Ive ever tried, except for my wifes. I wish I could have tried some of the curries or the som tum, or the laab, but that will have to wait till next time. Finally, I must mention the desserts. Our waiter told us the chef had just finished preparing the custard dessert, so we got one of those, served with sweet rice, and one of the ice cream with the fried plantain bananas. Both served on real banana leaves, Very very delicious, tastefully presented, and satisfying. By the time we left, we had had a thoroughly perfect restaurant experience. If youve had a negative experience there, thats a shame. We didnt. Thanks to our friendly waiter and the chef.

I live in the area and have ordered take out multiple times. It has never been done in the amount of time that I am told. A couple weeks ago, we ordered again and were told 25 minutes. Based on our history, we came 45 minutes after the original order. Our food was still not ready. I asked that one of our meals be credited for the delay ($10 on a $50 bill) and was told that it wasnt possible. Eventually, I was able to speak to a manager who told me that since I took the food, I was unable to have complaints. I posted a review on Facebook and was contacted by the actual manager (the first person I spoke to wasnt actually in charge; she only claimed to be), who asked for me to direct message her with me contact information to resolve the problem. I did that, with a note that I was happy to discuss what had happened. Over a week later, and I havent heard from the manager. She mentioned that she takes customer service "very seriously" but has ignored my messages (that were at her request). There are a lot of good Thai restaurants in St. Paul; use your money there.

Thai is one of my favorite cuisines and Ive been in Thai restaurants all over the country as well as several foreign cities. Ive been to Mango Thai twice now, and impressed both times. The first time was years ago so I was eager to return. Recently, we sampled the mango spring rolls, a cellophane noodle salad, chicken Tom Kha (coconut) soup, and ice cream with fried bananas. It was a wonderful meal: flavors and textures were distinct and fresh. Service was snappy and pleasant. The Tom Kha was rich and creamy - bisque like. Dessert was served in a martini glass: vanilla ice cream on a folded banana leaf drizzled with chocolate sauce. Bananas sticking out of four sides were each wrapped in a fried crepe sweetened with a coating of sugar and cinnamon. Outstanding! (One star off for lack of a liquor license - BYO encouraged - and bohemian decor. These are personal quibbles and might be a plus for someone else). Highly recommended.

Its hard to find a good Thai restaurant anywhere nowadays. When I first discovered this place over a year ago, I was very excited. The food is a hit and miss. Its always a mystery if I am going to get something delicious or average. I enjoy ordering new things off their limited menu; but I always get one or two of the same things. The atmosphere is different - fun and somewhat private. I would usually eat there at least once a month. My last experience has left me to NEVER GO BACK AGAIN!!!! The server was new and disrespectful. The dish I always get was SOOOO salty I thought I was eating salt. The cook who knows me by face did care to re-make my dish or not charge me for the three bites I took out of the dish. They do not value a loyal customer nor care about how much referrals I send their way. I will start telling many friends to never go back!

This place gave my family one of the most exceptional service we have ever had. We had just come from one of the family members choir concert, and were hungry. We were looking through all the thai places and wanted to try a new place. We went to mango and they opened up the restaurant that was closed because it was after closing time. They let us in and one of the people in my family told them we just came from a choir concert, they asked if we had a video of it, they said yes, then the waiter took the phone and hooked it up to the speakers and played the solo that my sister had. Wasnt sure what to spice to get, but the manager of the restraunt told me that I should use these sauces and gave me a couple sauces, and that made it phenomenal. Food was great, go try it here.
