I used to consider Larkspur one of my favorite places to dine, but our recent dinner there was very disappointing. One of our party ordered the salmon salad but was served the salmon dinner. When she told the waiter she had ordered the salmon salad, he took it back and brought out a salmon salad. When we got our bill, we were charged for the salmon dinner. We called it to the attention of the waiter who said we would have to talk to the manager. The manager was rude and said the original piece of salmon was used so thats why we were charged the full amount of the salmon dinner. The manager took $5 off our bill but it was still $4 more than the salmon salad that was originally ordered. Also, we had to ask for bread. There were two childrens meals ordered that were supposed to come with ice cream. When we asked about the ice cream, the waiter said, "You want the ice cream?" We had been wedding dress shopping that afternoon for my daughter and had considered Larkspur for the rehearsal dinner but that is definitely out. Bad customer service and we wont dine there again.

I was so disappointed by my recent trip to Larkspur. We have enjoyed many meals there in the past and even had our baby shower there, so for my birthday we decided to go there as a family. We were treated like second class citizens. No one came to check on us, our entrees took so long I had to ask several times about them, and once they did arrive they were cold and tasteless. I ended up not even ordering birthday dessert simply because it had taken so long and we all just wanted to get out of there. I even had to get up to bring our ticket to the manager to pay. Even with that; they didnt even stop to ask how our meal was. What a crummy birthday dinner. Thankful we have the means to try it again at another venue. I will not be going to Larkspur anytime soon again.

Our waitress Shalana, recommended the smoked chicken lasagna. We ordered it as an appetizer so we all could try it. The noodles were perfectly al dente and the chicken had a great smoky flavor to it. The ham and navy bean soup had a tomato base which was different in a great way. Be sure to ask for some chili butter to try on your bread. I had the chicken masala, it was great except the stems of the olives were still attached, I dont like inedible pieces on my plate. The pork tenderloin was wrapped in bacon and absolutely delectable. The steak in the steak arrabiatta was delicious and the sauce was a little thick for me. The swiss chocolate cake with berry compote was perfectly sweet. The flourless chocolate lava cake with ice cream and a berry compote was also wonderful.

Larkspur is renowned in Wichitas Old Town as the flagship of finer dining. If you are on a date or need to dine before the Theatre or an event at Intrust Bank Arena, this is a superb choice. I enjoyed the Chicken Lasagna that was prepared with wild mushrooms, giving it a slightly exotic taste. Very Nice. The decor of Larkspur is cool and unique. Apparently a former owner of the restaurant used to date Phyllis Diller a million years ago. There is a collection of original art from Ms. Diller herself displayed throughout the restaurant. With all of these unique positives, the restaurant does feel somewhat orchestrated. It feels more like a proven restaurant design than it does a place that blends uniqueness, chic, and "continental" victuals.

My wife and I were with another couple. We had reservations for 5:30 pm, last night. Thinking this would give us plenty of time for a nice meal before going to see Dirty Dancing, WRONG. We arrived at 5:30 were seated and then waited and waited. I told our waiter/ server we had tickets to the 7:30 performance. We ordered our meal at 5:45-6:00 time frame. By 6:55 we ha still not gotten our meal. We talked to our waitress and the manager they said it would be anther 7-10 minutes. They comped our salads and we left hungry. We will never return. I knew they were slow but 1 1:2 hours is beyond ridiculous. Thanks for ruining our evening. So if you are planning on attending an event allow 3 hours to get your food. CE

Went here for our anniversary dinner. Our server Eric was great and very involved with helping us chose what to order. I ordered the berry lemonade and was a nice treat. We had the spinach artichoke dip for an app and was very good. I ordered a Cesar salad and the pistachio chicken. The mash potatoes were great but literally only got 2 things of asparagus when the menu it said "bed of asparagus" oh well. The chicken was not my favorite taste and texture wise but was a good portion size. The best part was the surprise of the homemade fresh strawberry cheesecake that Eric have to us. Great service and atmosphere.

Ive been to Larkspur several times for business lunches and the food is almost always very tasty but the service is almost always awful which really can put a damper on the mood. The prices are higher--some menu items justify the price and some dont. Favorite items are the artisan bread with dipping oil that they bring out with each meal and the chicken salad. If you can tolerate lousy wait-staff, who Im beginning to think after several visits really just dont give a damn, then Larkspur is definitely a place to try for some good food with a nice atmosphere (excluding the staff).

My boyfriend and I made reservations and drove an hour to come to dinner at Larkspur last weekend. We had the calamari as an appetizer and it was very chewy, the dipping sauce was better than the calamari itself. I had the filet and he had the KC strip, his steak wasnt cooked properly... Ordered medium rare, received more like medium well. For a filet, mine wasnt very tender and a bit dry. Vegetables were bland at best. For the price and our prior excitement about a nice dinner out of town it was a total letdown.

I went for a financial awareness presentation. I have been to other presentations and the food was barely edible. The service was passable, the presentation was long and boring. However, the presenter spent the right amount of time on the presentation. The service was excellent! The food was extremely Good! I have never been to Larkspur Bistro & Bar before. However, I will be going back to try more of the menu.

The ambience was great but the music was way too loud. The bread is heavenly. Service was great. Hubby got kabobs which were not tender. I had the Salmon Nicese (sp) which was beautiful, fresh, yummy. Asked the server to turn down the music as we were one of two tables eating - she agreed, but I never heard the difference. Loud jazz is not what I feel comfortable with . . even at 2 in the afternoon.

The food concepts were good, but the execution was awful. My veal was tough and overcooked. There was a giant glob of garlic hiding in my potatoes that was really unpleasant to discover. Everyone else in my party had similar experiences. We went on a Friday night, and it was not busy, but it took 30 minutes to take our order and over an hour to get our food. I would NOT recommend eating here.
