Very disappointed about my experience here, maybe even dangerous. FEMALE MANAGER WAS EXTREMELY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL UPON HEARING THAT WE SENT TWO DISHES OF SPOILED FOOD BACK. When I called right after leaving to speak to a manager after leaving as to to not make a scene during dinner service, she said, and I quote: "Ohh, youre the people that had a problem with the shrimp and other stuff? Im sorry, but Im too busy to deal with this. No one else complains about the food, and maybe this isnt the place for you." and then hung up on me. City of Riverside, take note. I hate writing reviews like this, by the way. Brought my parents here for dinner. Both things I ordered tasted like they had gone bad: Raw "fresh" oysters The oyster meat was...SOLID GRAY, and the oysters had a very strong fishy smell. This is not matter of a difference of opinion or "not liking their food." The oysters were bad. I ate raw oysters just two days ago at Charlies Trio in Alhambra, and they were nothing like this. I was bold enough to try one, and it had a stinging, acidic taste to it. Definitely contaminated or old. Oyster meat is supposed to be tan in color, and have a mild smell. If raw oysters look different than this, DO NOT EAT THEM. Shrimp cocktail Shrimp was rubbery, like it had been frozen. Also was very squishy and easily disintegrated, meaning it was pretty old. Freshly cooked shrimp should be firm. Server told me that the shrimp had been cooked this morning. Tasted acidic and off. Bad shrimp is hard to miss. Had to send this back too. Was a little upset at this one since I was pretty hungry. My parents ordered chile rellenos, which we were told were made yesterday. Not even close. These were at least a week or two old. This part might be a matter of opinion, but the house margarita tasted very strange. Smelled of cheap ammonia cleaner. Only just now did I find out that the house margarita that I ordered was made with some strange "agave wine" instead of tequila. The server didnt mention that when I ordered it. Come on, man...only "Mexican" restaurant I have ever been to that does this crap. Absolute fail. Tempted to call the county about this place. This will be a first, but Im going to make a big deal out of this. Not letting it go until I get my money back, and a written letter of apology from the owner.

Family owned and operated. This little jewel of a restaurant is located in the heart of downtown Riverside. Portions are GREAT and the food is Hot, Fresh & Delicious. Chips & salsa are home made. I suggest the 2 taco meal with fish tacos, rice and beans. Their seafood blows Red Lobster away. Seafood prices are higher than regular meals, but for $14 you get a fabulous meal. There is a reason this place is packed to the gills at lunch time. Favorite dishes. Albondigas soup 2 Taco platter with fish tacos Ceviche tostada Beef Taquitos Bean rice and cheese burritto with verde sauce. Tacos are just $1.75 Burrittos start at $3.50 Taquitos are 95 cents (served with lettuce and Guac) Dine in portions are larger than to go portions. Voted a top 25 restaurant in Riverside by a well regarded food critic. I eat here because it is friendly, fast, tasty, inexpensive and DELICIOUS!

On Dec 05, 2014 five of us dined at at this restaurant. For some of us it was our 4th year in a row for a dinner prior to touring the Mission Inn. Four of us became ill later that night. My selection was their special Shrimp Burrito. I dont remember what the others ate, but we all had different selections. I wrote the owner/Manager several times, and called the restaurant, describing our experience, and I requested a refund and requested to speak with the Manager / owner. As of May 4, 2015 no one has contacted me, thus I decided to post my review here. Had I received a refund I would consider the matter closed. Even a refund cannot compensate for the degree of illness that I experienced all night. I have reported this matter with to Riverside Health Dept.

Random stop in as we were walking by. Ordered fish tacos listed at $5 on the menu (thinking it was the pair of tacos everywhere else sells) only to later find out it was $5 each with no sides, my fault for not reading the menu thoroughly but the price is ridiculous. The fish tacos were LOADED with lettuce (instead of cabage) and soggy tomatoes only to bring the taste down to that of Del Taco. The sauce was concentrated in one area so when you got to that bite it was quit a surprise. Couldnt even finish the tacos, definitely shouldnt of ordered four of them.

Food was good. Problem here is that the server stereotyped me. I hear that a lot of servers/bartenders dont like serving woman because they dont tip and I believe thats rude to treat people that way. I have experience serving & ALWAYS leave a tip according to service. My server wasnt specifically rude to me. But she did treat the four white business looking men beside me with excellent service and I had mediocre.. I gave her the average 15% but I would have gave at least 20-30% if she had treated me equally. smh

Quite possibly the best place around if you are wanting Latin food! The flavor is amazing and if you want it a special way they dont bat an eye to make you happy. The staff is always very friendly and helpful and the value is amazing. This place is so good my wife and I wanted to go here for our honeymoon. The one thing I miss about my downtown house is I used to be able to walk to this place!

This place is a solid 3, nothing exceptionally bad to say about it but then again nothing extraordinarily special either. First the good: Location, location, location! Its right on University and in the evening good place to people watch through their outside seating (should there be something happening downtown or its a weekend) The bad: The food itself wont leave you blown away.

The relleno was not completely skinned and had a stem inside. The enchilada was mushy and tasteless. The beans were watery which made the tostada plate wet and soggy. The rice was undercooked. The entire plate was mushy, like a soup. We only ate a small amount and asked for the bill. Many people I know would have walked out. If I could give it no stars, I would.

My favs are the jalepeno cheese encheladas, chicken tacos, all soups (posole is the business). micheladas are on point too!! I definitely recommend this place to anyone who likes good Mexican food and good vibes!

I normally dont do reviews, but this was a very great eating experience. The food was great, the service was great. I enjoyed sitting outside while eating. They were recommended by employees at Wells Fargo Bank down the street, and Im glad i listened. I will be back before the end of my visit to Riverside.

This is an excellent Mexican food restaurant with very reasonable prices. Good food and service. This restaurant can get pretty crowded during the lunch rush, however the service is always good and the food always comes out quick. I would recommend the chicken soup, it is second to none.
