La Marcha was good but I definitely would not go out of my way to eat here again. The food was pretty solid; the patatas bravas had a really nice smoky paprika sauce that came with it, the grilled onions with romesco sauce were also great, & the paellas was solid (although the saffron & salt was a bit lacking), but the whole experience was soured by a couple of things: 1. We made a reservation for a party of 10 (it was my birthday), and at the end of our meal, we wanted to get deserts, and the hostess said "Im not sure thats a good idea because theres a party waiting for your seats already". Seriously? What gives. Weve already reserved the sats & spent close to $50 per person for the dinner, and we couldnt sit down & give you more money. Then, I also remembered when I first entered the restaurant, the hostess took a walk-in party of 2, andsaid "I can give you a seat at the bar, but Ill need it back in a hour. Can you guys do that for me?". The couple obviously looked puzzled but took the seats anyways. Holy moly, if the Spanish people (who eats lunch and dinner leisurely for hours on end) knew what you guys did, they be pretty ashamed, La Marcha. Totally not the spirit of Spanish food or Spanish tapas. 2. It was almost impossible to split the bill. First they said that they could only take two cards. Then, after putting out cards down & writing the exact amount to charge, they said they could only take two cards with the same charge amount. Cmon! This is 2016. We have Square for that for goodness sake. Do not make it difficult for your customers to give you money! 3. The sangria was $45 a liter. FOURTY FIVE. And you could only get the discounted happy hours price if you sat at the bar, but oddly enough the whole restaurant is called a "tapas bar". So is the whole place a bar? Or is it only the bar within the bar? If youre trying to lure people into your restaurant with happy hour prices & menu, please dont have disclaimers. Not sure yet if ill come back. Ill definitely would not be making any more party reservations here.

Few days prior to going to bay area, I searched and picked out La Marcha Tapas Bar. After the Oakland Zoo, we went straight to the restaurant which was only 23 minutes away. We were starving and excited to try out this 4 star restaurant. For foodies like us, yelp plays a vital role in determining the restaurants. When we entered the restaurant there was no one in the front to greet us. So we waited few minutes and then decided to sit down; we had two kids with us. Finally the front hostess came and informed us those seats are reserved. She inquired whether we had reservation and we said yes. The she seated us at the different table. Service - The service started slowly up it picked up later. Food/drinks- During happy hour, if you order a drink then you can get a bite size appetizer. It was an awesome deal to try bunch of items. We got Patatas - Potatoes (not great), Pulpo y garbanzos octopus (felt like it was from a can), Croquetas de pollo (delicious), Croquetas de champiñones (ymmy), Albondigas, (Good), Gambas a la parilla (Okay), Paella Marineri this was delicious and totally approved by my 2 year old. The Paella had great flavors but I wish they placed grilled shrimp. That was my only complaint otherwise paella hit the spot. I ordered two sangria ( good) and my husband got wine (flavorful). Atmosphere - the restaurant is small but its nice and cozy. They have two painting on the wall which is blank. You can create your own imaginations through the two pink blank paintings. In the bar area, there were a lot of people sitting. Ill definitely recommend this restaurant to people. And make a reservation if you plan to have dinner here because it seems to get full.

The food here is incredible. My wife and I have been here twice and had fantastic meals both times. Last time we went, we had a reservation but couldnt get seated for almost a half-hour after our reservation time. When we did get seated, we had to sit at the bar. The hostess was very nice about it and gave us a free bottle of champagne, which was great, but the wait staff forgot to bring us two of the dishes we ordered. Aside from the service, though, the place is great. The albondigas, croquetas, bruselas, and tortillitas de gamba were all very memorable. I havent tried the paellas, but they look very good.

Summary based on one weeknight dinner: --very good tapas and better than average paella. Allow 30 minutes for paella. --good wine selection --helpful, friendly service --good lighting and reasonable noise level, though mostly hard surfaces. --ok street parking --live music on Tuesdays This area is rapidly gentrifying. One effect is the emergence of decent restaurants such as La Marcha. Recommended for Spanish food specifically and small plates.

As I previously posted several reviews, if you ever tried tapas in Spain, and love to experience exactly the same quality of food, flavor and service, this is the place. For the past many years, we have been searching for a tapas and seafood restaurant to duplicate our experience in Spain, we finally discovered this awesome restaurant, inexpensive, great wine selections and incredible service!!! We gladly give them a 10!

I am from Spain. The service is excellent and the food is pretty good. I never had a paella there, but the mushroom croquetas are just amazing! The only thing I had there that I didnt like is the tortilla de patata... thats not the way we make them in Spain, the egg looked like it had been cooked in the microwave... a little expensive I would say... but still worth going once in a while for the croquetas!

Cant say enough good thing about this place. The food was excellent as always, but what put it over the top is the service. Walked into the restaurant on a Saturday without a reservation. Initially was told the wait was gonna be an hr, but the hostess did her magic and was able to get us seats in 5 minutes. On top of that, she also gave us a couple glasses of champagne just cause!!!

The best Patatas bravas, crunchy and smoky on the outside, creamy on the inside. The meatballs are tasty, the tortilla is served cold though and thats weird. They are open later than most places so if youre like me three drinks on and realized you havent had dinner and only Jack in the Crack is open, La Marcha will rescue you. Tasty food, prices have gone up over time though.

I have only been here during happy hour but they have one of the best deals in the bay! For starters they have two happy hours (one in the afternoon and a late night happy hour which starts at 10PM). For every drink you purchase during happy hour you get a free tapa! The small plates include patatas bravas, boar meatballs, churros, just to name a few.

Delicious, inspired tapas. We tried the coca (a flatbread with cheese, caramelized onions, pear, and ham), patatas bravas, pan con tomate, and fried calamari. Everything was incredible. The patatas bravas and calamari were some of the crispiest wed ever had. Only issue was the place seemed to have a constant shortage of menus...somewhat strange.

Finally a Spanish Tapas Restaurant!! Great paella, too, but my group ended liking the Tapas a lot more. Also the happy hour is great and makes a Tapas craving almost affordable. The staff is very competent, knows their wine on the menu, attentive, fast and friendly. The happy hour also helps to avoid long wait times. Great start for a Sunday night!
