I visit this place often. They say business hours are over @ 9:00 on Fridays. I walked up to the doors at 8:40 and they were locked. I called and asked for collard greens and explained I just drove 15 miles. Was told they were out. Walked back to my car and decided to call back and ask about the cabbage. Whom ever answered the phone told me she would check with the kitchen. The owner/manager Dominque comes to the phone asking can he help. I Asked for cabbage and explained to him its now 8:45! I drive all the way here for some veggies. Something you dont have to cook just add some heat to. He goes " naw! Naw! Naw. we closed! " His tone was distasteful and a disgrace for a business owner. They acted as if I asked them to cook me a whole batch of fish! Normally I send my friends to them. We all stay in Richmond which is a little ways from this place. They have lost my business and a couple of friends business here in Richmond. Well go where customers are appreciated and valued.

Best Soul Food!! We had to drive all the way from Stafford, Va. to finally get some Real Soul food! I had the smothered pork chops (delish!!) and the Mac and cheese was as good as my mom! Hubby had the Sea food plater and he was determined to eat every bite. He said it was the Bomb!! Our waitress Latfay was very attentive, Dominique (the owner) boy who taught you how to cook? Grandma I bet!! Only a grandma! Well be back and well be bringing company

We celebrated our Aunts 97th birthday at Southern Soul Cafe. The service was great! The food was prepared to perfection.....well seasoned, but not salty. The atmosphere was very pleasant and accommodating for a large party. We had several items on the menu and all were delicious. I highly recommend! You wont be disappointed!

First time here and we were happy we came! I ordered the fried catfish and it was fantastic. Light breading nothing masking the taste of the fish. My wife ordered the smothered pork chops. Portion was big and delicious. All the sides were fantastic. Will definitely be coming back. Service was wonderful as well.

Got fried chicken, which was cooked fresh; cabbage was too greasy and salty; green beans were seasoned with herbs and were ok; Mac n cheese was dense and real cheese not take sauce, still like mine better. Got it to go about hour before closing. Go earlier as they can run out of food. Prices reasonable.

The MAC N CHEESE, smothered pork chops, trout and Tea is on point.. I mean if I didnt mind driving 78 miles one way each day or week, I would be here. This is truly a great place to eat. They are very friendly. I love it. I will recommend this to everyone.

Disappointed in The Food. Fried Chicken and Collards very very bland no flavor at all. Same with the Shrimp Po boy. Mac and Cheese good. Cornbread good. Service was Ok a little slow. Nice people. Would not recommend though because The Food was not that good.

Amazing food. We got the catfish entrée which wasnt on the menu with yams and mac and cheese and the smothered pork chops with green beans. Absolutely reminded me of home. I will be back again even though Im from out of town.

Tasty, home-cooked meals, just like Mamas cooking! Friendly staff. Sometimes they have events on weekends which are nice. Great for families and church groups. Order extra sides because youll want to taste everything.

The food was alright. I got the BBQ and it wasnt authentic pulled pork bbq. The fried chicken was worth a second trip though! Also their sides are very good. Staff are friendly and super easy to communicate with.

Best comfort food around and the staff is like family (the relatives you like). Livers and gizzards smothered in gravy and onions w/ collards - cabbage and corn bread! Never too crowded and super reasonable

Had dinner with my niece and nephew...I had the fried flounder, collard greens and mac & cheese....OMG, it was DELICIOUS!!!! Prices are great, atmosphere relaxing, clean and the staff was friendly.
