My advice? Go to Pops if youre craving traditional ice cream or head up the street to Casa Rosada if you like gelato. The Creamery is probably the last ice cream joint Id visit in Old Town Alexandria. Craving ice cream, I opted to try out the Creamery instead of my usual Casa Rosada fix and the line for Pops was out the door per usual. This place makes the usual ice cream flavors like chocolate, butter pecan, pistachio, vanilla, rocky road, etc. Nothing out of the ordinary. They also have sundaes. Very overpriced. Its $4.25 for a small cup/single scoop and thats just the cash discount. If youre using credit card, they charge you more. I paid $9.47 for two smalls. And the ice cream wasnt even that great. I ordered rocky road and it was frozen to the point of being rock solid. No creamy goodness because it was completely stuck together and almost gritty to the taste like it hadnt been mixed well. Interior is a little run down and its freezing inside! They unnecessarily crank up the A/C to a point where I think Im in the Arctic, despite the outside temperature only lingering in the 70s. I would much rather spend my money on Casa Rosadas gelato. Consistently delicious and much cheaper. Even Pops can have my money before The Creamery.

Ive always had great ice cream at the place. The service is always good here with a very friendly staff. I think this is the traditional ice cream place in the Washington DC area. It can be crowded on a Friday and Saturday night during the summer but well worth the few minutes wait to get service. The place is cash only.

The ice cream was great and the sizes reasonable but if I was then I would have a kids size at half price. As the pricing is a little much, as well there is no seating, so I would not bring kids here. Mine got the small and we still threw some away.

Average Ice Cream Store with well above average ice cream. When stopping by on a busy summer weekday, there was nothing special about the chilly store or the busy staff. But WOW! That was one above average Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream cone!

Recommended Spring-time activity for Old Town Alexandria: eating ANY of the delicious, homemade flavours from The Creamery, while strolling, relaxing and enjoying the waterfront view at Waterfront Park or Oronoco Bay Park.

Nice little ice cream shop. Seems more like a mom and pops ice cream shop. When iwent i got vanilla with a (microwave) heated piece of cherry pie I believe. Its an okay place, not terrible, but not amazing.

Nobody has as many sugar free flavors....anywhere. Thanks for thinking of your sugar free customers! BTW I used to eat icecream there when I ate sugar too! The extra flavors make me forget about the sugar!

Great ice cream but she does not ring up her cash transactions and therefore does not pay taxes on her income. This is offensive. What does she think pays for the road in front of her business?

After a hot day and an evening stroll along the shoreline of Potomac this is the right place to cool down with an ice cream or sundae. Offers excellent variety of the cool stuff.

The coffee ice cream seemed old or freezer burned. My dad enjoyed the frozen custard, and wife liked the swirl cone. Pops across the street has better traditional ice cream.

Good ice cream, but priced for the market ($5 for a small). The "real frozen custard" is okay, nothing like youd get in Wisconsin or at Culvers.

They change the name of this place to the creamery. When I was here it was called Scoop Grill. They have yogurt custard and homemade ice cream.

A bit overpriced ice cream.. i had rocky road.. it was alright. The guy working that night could probably care less whats going on around him.

Quick service but expensive for a single scoop cone that was creamy but not so flavorful. Heads up they charge just for using your debit card.

Theyve changed their name to The Creamery. They make their own ice cream . . . it was EXCELLENT! And the service was fast and friendly.

Good ice cream. Small selection compared to other local places. Ice cream was a bit melty from the beginning. Does not take amex.

Delicious home-made ice cream and soft-serve custard. The lines can be long up in the evenings and on weekends.
