Stopped here after a morning trip to the Cliff Walk nearby. I had done my research (as always), so I was pretty comfortable going in for the first time. Location is awesome, its like literally RIGHT in the middle of everything, and almost right across the street from where we like to park, so pretty sweet right out of the gate there. We arrived around 1pm on a Saturday afternoon (in January), and there was no wait; but the place wasnt empty either. Id say for a cold winter day in Newport, it was pretty hopping actually. Guy that seated us was nice enough, but kind of distant and weird. No biggie, he sat us and that was the last we saw of him. Waitress came over fast, and overall was super attentive. We werent in a hurry really, but we didnt want to dawdle too long, and she kept right on top of us which was nice. She had kind of a weird accent and there were a few missteps in communication, but again...we got through it were happy. Food-wise, we were actually more than happy! Sometimes I like to pretend Im one of those cool Irish guys with the thick accent and the bad teeth and the drinking problem, so I went with the Scotch Eggs appetizer and the Fish and Chips. Both amazing...perfect actually. Wife and Daughter went with a Chicken Cranberry sandwich and Onion Soup appetizer and were both super pleased. Son had a Duck Burger (which I thought was kind of strange, but hes kind of a strange kid...so), which he didnt LOVE, but he said it was good. I tried a couple he had leftover and I tended to agree. It was good, but a bit on the dry side. Honestly, Im not a huge duck fan anyway, so I wouldnt let that stop you. Overall on the food, kudos. I felt Irish...even if just for a few minutes. Seating was a bit on the tight side, but again...not that crowded. Im thinking if it was packed though, we might have felt cramped. They did sit us in a little dining area to the right overlooking the street, which was nice. If youre looking for a quick, quality bite in Newport, or even if youre looking to hang out and kill some time at the bar, this place seems like a great choice. But again, Im not ACTUALLY Irish. An actual Irish person might be a little tougher than I am.

My husband Michael & I went to this restaurant on 5/24/2015 I was very excited to eat the Irish Platter (Corn & beef) but unfortunately something bad happened 3 hours later. My husband Mike throw up 6 times in a row after eating there. He even, had food coming up thru his nose and some blood maybe after throwing up so many times. After that, he rested and relax at home. I was seriously thinking to call the restaurant to notify them of what happened but I had a very tight schedule at work that prevent me for calling for 3 days so I called on Thursday and I asked to speak with the Manager to explain my situation. However, she said will investigate with the kitchen crew and get back to me the next day. She did not call me so I decided to pick up the phone and call. When I called she did not even apologize or say what will do for us, she said will contact someone else which the person called me. I think he was a chef -they guy did not even know what to say so then I asked for the owner...the status is I still waiting for his call. I havent had a chance but I will make copies and distribute them in Newport so people dont go to this restaurant. I think if we eat in McDonalds is much better and safer. I feel people needs to know what is going on. My husband and I did not eat the same thats why I didnt get sick. But it really bothers me the fact that they didnt care abous driving like idiots to enjoy a restaurant that is so disgusting and that has so unprofessional employees.

We stopped in last night - a rainy, busy Newport Saturday night with a boat show in town - and it was a delicious experience. We stood in line after walking 8 blocks to get there and the bus girl informed us it would be 45 minutes to an hour for a table for two. Not wanting to walk anymore, we decided to wait. There isnt sitting room, so be aware of that for a wait. The bus girl was there by herself - she had to bus tables and take names for the wait list - and we got to chat with her while waiting. She was so professional and friendly, and I felt wed made the right choice by staying. We were seated not 15 minutes after arriving, despite anticipating an hour wait. Since it was packed, it was very warm inside, almost unbearably so by the bar, but we were put at a small back corner table by open windows that let in some of the cool evening air. Our waiter (nicknamed Pony Boy on our receipt) was attentive, fast, and personable, and the food was delicious. Authentic Irish-style bangers and mash, and a great portion for the price. I had the pumpkin martini with vanilla vodka like the bus girl recommended for dessert, and it was pumpkin pie in a glass! So delicious! If I ever come back to Newport, Ill make sure to stop in again. It would have been worth a much longer wait thanks to the wait staff. Thanks again, Buskers!

I visited Buskers last year when I was in Newport and it was great. Awesome service, great food, and overall a good experience. This time was a different story. Service was excruciatingly slow (2 hours for lunch is a little much), the food was not very good (cold and fairly tasteless), and drinks were not very good either, for the price. When the waitress made a mistake and overcharged us due to her error she said she could not fix it as since we did not say anything was wrong when she asked how everything was going, then that means that we must pay no matter what the charge, even if it was wrong...didnt know this was the case. Overall I was very disappointed and so were a number of patrons. The people at the table next to us left when it took 15 minutes for their drink order to be taken. Another couple returned their meals as they were dreadfully overcooked and decided simply to leave because it would take too long for the order to be corrected. I do not think I will be returning anytime soon. Its a shame since last time it was so great. Bye Bye Buskers!

The food was good, but that didnt make up for the very poor service. Its probably the worst and rudest waitress I have ever had. I wish I have saved the $8.00 going over the bridge and stayed in Warwick where you can get good food and good service. Not only was she rude, but we never got refills on our drinks, my husband never got the mustard he requested for his burger (even though she gave him a choice of 3 or 4 different kinds of mustard) and by the time she returned to our table we were already done eating. We make a yearly pilgrimage to Newport and I doubt Ill ever make the trip again. I much rather spend my money in South County or Mystic CT for a local day trip.
