As a native of that area and having driven past Matchbox several times without going by I was really disappointed by this one. The prices were astronomically High even though it is Rhinebeck especially for the quality of food. The egg on my bacon egg and cheese was microwaved and it came on what seemed to be a hamburger bun from the local grocery store. I was told I should have stuck with the cookies there. I will give it one more shot just for that.

I give it 5 stars for charm, owner friendliness and effort. I give it 1 star for value for the dollar. Lunch for two (a burger and sandwich) cost almost $40.. We could have had a steak dinner for two for less than that. While the burger and sandwich were good (Id rate them slightly above average) the cost in no way justifies ever going back. We didnt have a cookie... there was no money left....

This place has the best cookies..HANDS DOWN! I always make it a point to stop here when I am traveling by and their cookies never disappoint. I always buy more than one. I also ate food here for the first time this past summer and it was quite delicious. The seating is very very limited but we got lucky and got a table. I highly recommend this place. The owner is very nice.

There are a number of reviews complaining about the wait. Yes, it does take a while to get your food. It is a very small business that is extremely popular for a reason! The wait is worth it, trust me. The food is outstanding and Sam is a fun guy. We absolutely found a place to continue coming back to when we are in town. Love it!

The Matchbox Cafe is a cozy, casual place to visit for delicious food. The entrees are simple, have wonderful flavor, and are made with all local products. Their desserts are heavenly! Highly recommend for anyone looking for homey food that is made to perfection with a warm, casual ambiance.

Quirky, friendly owner and absolutely delicious (grass-fed) burgers and hand-cut fries (among other things - the chicken salad and egg sandwiches were also excellent). We really enjoyed eating here, weve been twice and would definitely go back next time were in town.
