I should have known by the dirty floor and dirty tables just to turn around and walk out before giving this place a try. Sadly, I didnt. This is a fast food type Chinese place that caters mostly to carry-out or delivery folks but does have a nice sit-in establishment thanks to the previous restaurant that was in this location. Too bad the dining room was filthy because it didnt set a nice tone when I walked in. Most quick-service places like this have photos of plates of food on the wall just to give you an idea of what the dishes look like. Why do you think most places like Dennys and McDonalds have pictures of food on the menu? You can actually order by pointing to a photo. Not here. And while I know those photos arent actual pictures from the restaurant, I still find them enjoyable to look at and helpful for some. Instead, this place has a huge menu on the wall crowded with too many choices of your typical Chinese fare. This means it takes too much time for most people to order. They even had the cost of "extras" listed. I ordered the Generals Tsos chicken combo which came with fried rice and an egg roll. I ordered one extra egg roll and a large drink. This was $14.00 total. Compared to other Chinese restaurants Ive been to, I thought that was a bit high. Heck, you can get a large tea at McDonalds for $1. The drink was $2.29 here! While it didnt take long for my food to be served, the employees seemed rushed and scattered, something other reviewers have also pointed out. I didnt wait long. Though I told them my meal was dine-in, it came in a carry out bag, as did several other peoples orders around me who were also dining in. Yet, then someone elses came out on actual plates. Like I said, poor communication with a rush and poorly trained staff! Now lets talk about the food. My chicken was five or six poor quality chicken nuggets soaking in what tasted like old coagulated barbecue sauce. There were no vegetables. I didnt even finish the chicken because it was such poor quality that I was afraid it was under cooked. The rice was very dark and tasted burnt, and tasted much like the egg rolls which told me they were both cooked in the same very old grease. There are much better Chinese take-out places around. Theres even one across the street from this one and up the road a bit. I prefer Quik Wok in St. Ann or even Panda. I could have gotten this same meal at half the price at any of these places (which are all cleaner) and it would have been much more flavorful and appealing. So skip this place. It wont be around long anyway.

Although their food is not absolutely horrible its just absolutely greasy & the rice is so dark its like did you run it through motor oil before you cooked it. I order my seven-year-old some fried shrimp they didnt tell me it was extra tempura batter. I brought it back to the counter because we were dining in, the cashier STRONGLY stated that theres ABSOLUTELY NOTHING we could do about it without even offering me another option. I didnt care about the refund I just wanted my child to eat. Since I know how customer service works I suggested that I wanted something else and not a refund & she hesitantly agreed. The owners need to properly train their employees on handling customer satisfaction. Unfortunately if Im spending my coins all $45.42 worth then I need professional customer satisfaction..and on that along you get one star from me. will never be visiting this location again

I took a visit to this place earlier this week. *hangs head down* I was utterly disappointed. I drove about 40 mins from where I stay and wasted gas to come back home to something that definitely wasnt worth the money I spent. We ordered chicken fried rice that didnt seemed cooked enough nor had enough soy sauce. It also had a taste that I could not describe it was just yuck same thing goes for the regular friend wontons. They were disgusting! The philly wontons were about the only good thing but even that had a weird taste. My wife said her bacon fried rice was pretty good. The philly cheese steak was very dry, taste very grease, and was lacking a lot of cheese. I think it was a waste of my time, gas, and money. Im going to stick to taking that extra drive and going to chinamen on the south side.

Ive given this place chance after chance, but will never choose this restaurant again! My order is consistently wrong and the "manger" provides no compensation for their own mistakes. I ordered a meal for delivery and the order taker specifically asked me how many pieces of crab Rangoon I wanted. When the order arrived to my house, there were no crab Rangoon, and the "manager" was going to charge me another $5 delivery charge to deliver the crab Rangoon that I initially order. Not to mention they delivered the wrong rice and chicken, but unless I bring it back, I cannot receive what I ordered. The "manger" did not have the number or name of the owner. Im so fed up with the rice house and this will be their last time having my business.

It wasnt the counter girl taking my order, who had the personality of a gang member on parole, nor the shrimp fried rice that was so bland and tasteless, that I would swear it was a dish from an 8th grade home economics class, or the tripe sandwich, that was coverd in so much SALT, that I got a blood pressure spike, from the aroma of it (it was inedible) no, it was none of those things.....it was the fact that it ran me just under $20 ! that made it all so special ! This place was O.K. at first, now its just an over priced mess ! Want better Chinese food for cheaper ? Go to China Peace. Want better everything else ? go to China Garden or China King ! Kenny has fallen off..bad.

Good food but employees who arent smarter than a first grader is ruining it! I wouldnt have people at my business counter taking orders and greeting customers who DO NOT have common sense! If you place a call in order and pick it up, they cash you out but dont check to see if your order is ready. Who does that? ..What idiots!! I waited over 20 mins for my pick up order and it was ready the whole time I was there. I just asked them for a refund but really wanted to say you should not have people working for you who arent smarter than a second grader. Hell a third grader is probably who owns the joint.

We decided to go here from the good reviews. We ordered jerk chicken w/fried rice, beef fried noodles, hot wings, strawberry cheesecake wontons, fried crabsticks, mexican egg rolls. The only decent tasting thing was the fried rice. The noodles were mushy, overcooked and oily and gross. The jerk chicken was under seasoned and gross. Hot wings - under seasoned. Crabsticks - pointless, just breaded imitation crab. The wontons were tasty because they were sweet. Mexican egg rolls were OK. Literally nothing was remotely impressive. We were dissatisfied and dont plan on visiting again.

I dont know why many have had such a bad experience, but all my visits to rice house stl dorsett location have been very positive. The restaurant was clean, the staff has always been really friendly, and most importantly my orders have been delicious and correct. The only issue I have ever had is when I ordered a combination plate and I didnt realize it came with pork fried rice. I have a pork allergy. When I got my meal I noticed it and told the manager. She immediately took my plate and brought me a new one with beef fried rice (no extra charge).
