We have seen the place many times and it seemed to always be busy, so we thought we would give it a shot. The first impression when we went in is that it is a strip mall restaurant that you would expect in a really bad part of town. The atmosphere is rough at best. While the cooking smelled good, when you get the food it definitely is not what you expect from the smell. For the four of us, the total for our meal was over $30. The Chicken Katsu was dry and flavorless. The Macaroni Salad is essentially mayo and mac noodles so all you taste is a mouthful of mayo with each bite. The bbq sauce was watered down and fairly bland. We had two mini shrimp meals. The shrimp was overcooked, with only the cocktail sauce being the reprieve of the bland flavor of everything else. Finally, the childrens chicken strips were just like the Chicken Katsu, dry and flavorless. Honestly, I do not understand how this chain restaurant can remain in business. Maybe we had a fluke visit, but regardless, this was our first and last time trying this place. I would advise anyone to avoid this place, especially for the price. I think what I particularly dislike is that for the over $30 cost there are much better choices than this place. I would be very suspicious of the various glowing reviews, especially ones that have no text and simply 5 stars.

*****edited 8.15********** Just changed to 5 stars, the last few times Ive been in, there are more employees doing more, more quickly. Food is always awesome and now the service has significantly improved! Crazy good food , crazy SLOW service. Theres always 5 guys standing around in the back and one super slow person on the register w food sitting in the window and peoplelined up and people waiting at tables. Waiting 30 mins for your food is not uncommon. Tried calling in my order to mitigate wait tine but no one answers the phone. This place could be twice as busy and be up to 5 locations right now if they had any operational awareness. Prices are good, portion sizes are huge. I would change this to 5 stars if they hired an extra front of the house person to help on the register, bag up orders and answer the phone. It would also be cool if there were a fresh mixed veggies option to substitute for the casserole. Overall I love this place but I feel like I want them to succeed more than they want to themselves.

In Arizona, I had the distinct pleasure of frequenting a Hawaiian BBQ of INCREDIBLE quality. The food was all moist, and tasted fresh. The rice was steamed to perfection, and the macaroni salad was....macaroni salad. Thats pretty hard to screw up. The problem with L & L was that, while the menu, portions, and choices were exactly the same, the food my wife and myself had gotten was dry, and didnt exactly taste 100% fresh. The rice and "salad" were fine, but the chicken was somewhat lacking. The only difference was that in the AZ version, they had a juicy few slices of cabbage below the main dish to keep it fresh, it seemed. That was massing from L & L. Admittedly we got our food for takeout near close, so it may have been stale food cooked some time ago. Regardless, Im more than willing to give it another shot, and anyone interested in healthy, delicious food aught to be as well.

I just moved here from Hawaii, and I must say that this is the worst L&L iv ever been to. The kid at the cash register was rude, just seemed like he didnt want to be there, I ordered 3 musubi 2 spam 1 katsu. The seaweed wasnt even wrapped on them just thrown on so as soon as I and my son picked one up they both fell apart, I asked if they could wrap one up in plastic wrap for me (my son was stoked to take one to school with him) they said they dont do that... The spam was rubbery and the katsu chicken was all breading with no flavor... All 3 musubi got put in the rubbish smh. If you can mess up a mushi that much you have no business making Hawaiian food or pretending to. Im so disapointed was hoping to get a taste of home but got a nasty knock off.... Btw I was the first customer of the day so its not like they had anything better to do but make fresh food... No can dat kine.

Food taste was the usual quality from L&L. The low rating is for the younger glasses dude at the cashier. The first cashier was good but this second one needs to come up with new jokes and improve customer service. He calls my name as my order is ready and jokes saying its not you, its someone else....Just kidding (Ive been waiting for 15-20 min patiently now). So we laugh and he asks do I need anything else? I say yes hot sauce. He replys with "no you cannot".....Awkward pause....He says haha just kidding...then I ask for teriyaki sauce (I ordered 2 combo plates) and again he replys, no you cannot...We do another awkward pause and he says, no really this time, you cannot....So hes being smart saying, youve never been here before? We charge for that? Im not accustomed to paying for teriyaki sauce when I order a teriyaki plate but I pay for it and leave. Horrible...

Very disgusted! I ordered the healthy shrimp, its supposed to be sautéd in garlic and green onions. Unfortunately when I asked why it was fried with garlic and green onions dumped on it they treated me extremely poor. The owner very rudely told me thats how its made in Hawaii. Dipped into corn starch and fried. Guess the last three years of eating it sautéd with garlic was a mirage I had in Hawaii! She never apologized for the picture being misleading or offered to reimburse the two dollar difference in the meal I ended up with since Im allergic to corn starch. The Mac salad was very tasty, but Ill pull out my own L&L cookbook next time so I can enjoy it made correctly. I just cant believe how rudely an owner will treat customers!

We tried this place out for the first time a few days ago. Im not impressed to say the least. Customer service was great and the place was clean. The food was WAY OVERPRICED and not worth it AT ALL: taste wise or proportion size. We paid $27+ for a chicken platter, a seafood "platter" and one drink. The seafood platter had three small shrimps and a tiny piece of fish, with my choice of meat. I chose chicken katsu and it was flavorless and gross. My husbands chicken/ rib platter was larger but had a lot of fat on the ribs and chicken was just okay. I dont know, not worth it to us. Also, it took over 30 minutes to get our food after being told it would be 10-15 minutes. GO somewhere else!

We went on a really busy day. We waited in line for awhile, ordered, and waited for our food for about 10 minutes. We have a service dog with a black vest, military patches, and the words SERVICE DOG printed largely. After receiving our food and starting to eat the same cashier who saw us in line, took our order, and saw us waiting came over and asked if our dog was a service dog. He had to "make sure". Because verbal confirmation was more appropriate than reading his vest. It was rude and I would rather make Hawaiian food at home now. They claim to be military friendly yet dont have a clue what a military service dog is.
