Right when you walk in the staff creates a comfortable and welcoming unseen atmosphere in the quant but spacious dining area. With its distressed and at home design quality about the place its easy to get lost in a book or a conversation ,with whomever joined you. Almost like your all alone at a little cabin in the woods some where in the cutest country dining room. On top the excellent feel in the environment aspect the food is A++. With gluten free, preservative free, hormone-free fed meats, locally grown veggies they top it off by supporting the community and buying from local producers for theyre chips(which come with every sandwich) and a local bakery for all theyre daily freshly baked breads. They dont stop to amaze me though, they also require recycling or own waste. Which could serve as a lesson to everyone that doesnt do their part for our planet. Maybe some(excuse my French) idiot will take the knowledge home and use it permanently. Proteins are filling yet affordable. So 5 STARS Well earned Brass Tacks Sandwiches. You deserve it.

The service is pretty quick, even when theyre crowded, the people who own it are really nice, and will even hold a conversation with you without acting like its torture. The food is BRILLIANT, even if the servings are a bit on the small side. All of their vegetarian options are great, and despite their size are fairly filling. At eight dollars it does seem a little expensive, but it is completely worth it. On another note, they make their own chips and pickles that taste freaking AWESOME! Alltogether, a great experience, and they have frequent visitor cards that give you a free sandwich after you buy a few. Definitely a place to return to.

I got the vegan velveeta. The sandwich bread wasnt toasted. There were few (3?) thin slices of meat. Not that satisfying, or much for the price. Then the prices. I was charged $15 for a $4.50 beer and a $9 sandwich. What?? Then the lady turned to my friend and charged him $5 for the same draft beer that she told us was $4.50. Underwhelming. Overpriced for the velveeta. Maybe not for another sandwich. Never having been there, they didnt tell us how the service works. Heads up: you pay when your sandwich is ready. Theres better vegan food and beer at Hungry Tiger.

Any place that makes their own vegan meats has my interest. Sadly, they dont really deliver much else. Their vegan meatball hoagie is dry and hard to eat. The subs are way too heavy on bread and light on meat and veggies and I wish the side pickles were free. The inside is always way too hot so try to snack an outside table. Last time I was there they were out of the beer on draft. I love their local sourcing and who they are trying to be, however they need some tweaking.

Guy had a terrible attitude today. Rude responses to reasonable questions. Completely unhelpful. Him and another guy just talked about thier previous night (cursing several times) while we waited to ask questions. Wasnt just us. Heard him give attitude to several customers. Heard him tell a lady "I actually dont work here. Im just filling in for someones shift". Sandwiches were just ok. I was shocked that this place has such a high rating.

Delicious!! I had heard rave reviews of this place, so I tried their salami sandwich today and was very pleased. I asked for aioli instead of the mustard, and I think that it would have been good either way. I love that they use fresh bread, and that they make their own meat substitute options. I will try the vegan salami next time! Be prepared for a bit of a wait during the lung rush.

If you were doing a tour of all the best sandwich places in Portland, Brass Tacks would definitely be on the list. Amazing sandwiches. We often stop here and pick up sandwiches on our ways out to the river in the summer. Great choices of fixings, good potato salad. Im not a huge fan of their pickles, but its definitely unique and worth trying.

Super yummy sandwiches! I have a smaller apetite and their vegan meatball sandwich makes for a solid lunch-and-early-dinner double meal. The sauce soaks in and makes the bread all delicious and tasty by the second meal and its like a whole different sandwich. I probably need to go get one tomorrow, Im making myself hungry writing this.

My partner and I ordered for delivery our first night in portland. We had been traveling for a few days and we were ready to sit down on the floor of our apartment and enjoy a good sandwich. Both sandwiches were perfect. The only complaint was they forgot my partners side order of a pickle. She was a little let down.

HOLY S#$T, these are some dang good sandwiches! I had a delicious sandwich with turkey, ham, provolone, avocado and AMAZING house made tomato jam and cashew cheese. The atmosphere, the owners, the employees, the customers: everything is happy and beautiful and wonderful and delicious!

Worst pastrami I have ever had. It was incredibly dry and almost tasted off (slightly fishy). My sandwich was covered in black soot from the panini press and half the bread was still soggy from the shredded cabbage releasing water in the panini press. Maybe the vegan stuff is good?

The sandwiches are excellent, service is fast. Great sandwiches. Large enough to share... Also they have their own bottles of cold water extract coffee. cool art on the walls and mismatched light fixtures completes the Portland look. Highly recommended.

Super duper great sandwiches for you and your vegan friends. Homemade soups and pickles abound. They serve delicious courier coffee, and source as much locally as they can. Also, one of the employees has an awesome air brushed apron.

NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM! I just discovered this place last night. They had a ton of vegan options which is rad, and even make their own faux meats. They also have their own pickles which Im already dreaming of. Ill be back for sure.

HUGE Sandwiches! Hilarious names. Cool and friendly staff. You know the place must be good when you see full tables of people inside and out on a Sunday afternoon. ...and a catchy name too!

All four sandwiches the bread was hard, even the sliced wheat bread. Have the right idea but the bread makes the sandwich. With fresh bread this would be a good place. Until then........

I like that they have good meat and vegan options. The Italian cold cut sandwich was delicious. Theres not a lot of seating, so be prepared to maybe take it to go or wait a bit at lunch.

I dont understand the positive reviews. Some people are easily amused apparently. The sandwiches are mediocre at best -- especially considering the other options in the neighborhood.

This place has good honest sandwiches. I have been twice and loved it both times. The salami is top quality as well as the turkey avocado and tomato "jam". Overall good place.
