This place is just a little off the side from Times Square, but its not a well guarded secret - there have been lines of folks waiting to get in! The best I can say is that its kind of a like a Japanese restaurant/bar - it has a little bit of everything that you can try to get a taste of Japan. I havent tried their sushi, but their curry and noodle dishes are awesome. Ive tried their Katsu Curry-don (fried pork cutlet served over curry and rice) and Katsu curry udon (same as before, just add noodles instead of rice) and theyve been awesome. Some tips before hitting this place: -please, please have cash on hand. They dont accept credit cards (as far as I remember). The last thing you want to do is run out of here in a huff to find an ATM to pay the bill, getting hit with ATM fees because it wasnt your primary bank. -Its busiest during the lunch rush and early to late evenings, so you might want to stroll on in somewhere in between (about 2-4 p.m.) if you dont like crowded but want the experience.

Testé une 1ère fois en 2012, nous y sommes retourné la semaine dernière, un mardi soir vers 20h et on nous a trouvé une table en 30 secondes! La suite ne fut que plaisirs et découvertes! Produits frais, plats savoureux, service avec le sourire et paiement par carte bancaire sans aucun problème :) La clientèle était les deux fois a plus de 80% asiatique, raison pour laquelle nous y sommes entrés la 1ère fois dailleurs. Bref, adresse à recommander si vous êtes de passage près de Times Square!

Right around the corner from the misery that is Times Square, Iroha is a small Japanese restaurant with prices comparable to a local sushi joint (think avocado rolls for $3). I dont eat sushi, so I played it safe with gyoza, edamame and an avocado roll. I found the roll to be wrapped loosley, the gyoza falling apart and the edamame inconsistently salted. The meal did the job but I would only return for happy hour for the half-price martinis I coveted from the neighboring table. The service, however, is great!

Decent sushi place that is surprisingly understated and quiet despite its proximity to Times Square. The interior is decorated with some Japanese paintings and wood panels which are calming. The menu is helpful and includes images of many of the dishes so you can identify that great thing you had before that youd like to try again or venture to something new. The food didnt blow me away but the cuts of fish were pretty good and the rolls were well put together.

A no-frills sushi restaurant steps from Times Square, Iroha is a refreshing break from the chaos just outside its doors. The menu offers lots of variety and helpful pictures to illustrate each dish. The food is decent but not exceptional; sushi, gyoza, and accompaniments are standard. Omelets are giant and a fun option for adventurous eaters. Service is brisk and efficient. Decor is minimal but warm. One could certainly do worse in this neighborhood.

Got the sushi delight for $16 which came with: shrimp, unagi, salmon, tuna, hamachi Nigerien and 4 slices of tuna sashimi. The quality of the fish is above Ki taro next door but not as good compared to other restaurants with similar prices. However, the rest of their menu offers more traditional Japanese cuisine and that is something Ki taro doesnt have. I like the atmosphere and love that they use actual tea leaves in their tea.

This is a very generic Japanese restaurant in a part of town I try to avoid. Edamame was bland and soggy. Rolls were passable but boring. Salmon sashimi and omelet were good. Shumai and gyoza were both very blah. My fellow diners really loved their noodle dishes but I wasnt a big fan. Service was fast and attentive. Might be a good place to dine alone while sitting at the bar of youre on the go. The skewers looked decent.

Decent place with well put together food. Well priced and the food is enough for a quick bite before embarking on a night on the town. Cash only and NO CREDIT CARDS are excepted. Service is well and staff manages to tend to customers needs efficiently and effectively. Although this wouldnt be my first choice for a Japanese restaurant in NYC, this doesnt fall short of a reasonably priced and delicious meal.

When eating there, be aware when you are paying and make sure that you clearly write the amount of tips that you want to give without possibility for adjusting or changing ciffers. When I returned to my home country and looked at my bank account they had taken 5 dollar in tip, which I havent granted them. Small amount of money, but fraud is never ok, and brings bad reputation at the long term.

Just walking past and peeked in the window. Would have moved on without a second thought but a customer came out and I overheard them say, "what a great meal!". Threw caution to the wind and was it my lucky day. Great food, great service, great price! When youre tired of paying well over a $100 bucks for a meal for two in Midtown, give this place a try. You wont be disappointed.

Went here when the wait for Sake Bar Hagi was too long - got in within 2 minutes around dinner time. If youre going for hot foods such as yakitori, fried chicken, pork belly kimchi Id just wait it out for Sake Bar Hagi. However..the SASHIMI is the big win...that alone is worth most of these stars. So fresh, and melt-in-your mouth delicious!

For greasy food at 11pm, this place will do the trick. However, please know that this restaurant is nothing special, but they price their menu as if they are a high-end establishment. The service is adequate, but you definitely have to put some effort into getting the waitstaffs attention. I wouldnt make it a point to return.

Not terrible sushi considering its in the theater district, where pickings are slim unless you want to fork over more money. Shumai was decent, edamame bland and unsalted and the sushi itself was palatable but nothing special. The noodle omelet dish I had (name escapes me) was my favorite. Not sure Id return.

This is one of the best sushi restaurants in NYC, hands down. The food is always fresh, the service is extremely quick, and the prices are reasonable (especially for being right next to Times Square). You can sit down, eat, and be out within 30 minutes no problem. Great for business lunches too.

Worst japanese food Ive ever had; and I had a lot, as Ive lived in Japan a long time, so Ive experienced high and low in izakayas. I had basic yakitori, as we would order as we go along, and they were worst ever. I highly recommend to avoid this place.

Like it. A little bit pricey but they offer good variety of Japanese cuisine. Ive been there more than several times. Would give 4 stars if the last time I visited I did not find a bug with too many legs on the table. Luckily not on my dish.

I go there at least once a week for my sushi fix. I love finding hole in the wall places that are true gems. Friendly staff, GOOD sushi and prices are reasonable. If you are in the area and u are feeling sushi, well you cant beat it.
