This place has some of the best sushi I have ever tried. I didnt think much of it as climbed down the stairs to this basement restaurant. Everything was just perfect. Exceptionally friendly service. I sat at the sushi bar, ordered one of the combos and then just asked for a couple more combinations to be made by the sushi chef who was just in front of me. He happily complied and was thrilled every time one of his new creations was met with approval. is one of the places I will definitely go back to one my next visit to NYC

Small, small portions. Quality is also average. Now that doesnt mean it wasnt good, it was just fair. The pricing is more then it should be for the portion size. **ALERT** if they offer you tea, you know, the green stuff, its not free. Its $2.50, so be aware. They dont tell you that. Alot of Asian restaurants offer that as free, but they do not. A little sly in my opinion. I wouldnt go back, not in NY when there are so many better options. $35 with tip...meh!

I have visited Hama restaurant 3 times since it opened, and I have to say that the sushi here is some of the freshest around. The decor is amazing, and so is the service. The lunch special, especially the Tempura Bento, is my favorite, and comes with soup or salad, dumplings, a california roll, and rice. Im a big guy, and it fills me up. I will certainly go back again.

MUST get the tuna here. I got the tekka don which had 8 pieces of tuna for $23. Within a few bites the tuna melts in your mouth. I also ordered two pieces of toro for $8 each, and it was really fresh as well. My girlfriend got the chirashi don for $23, and her sashimi slices werent as good as my tuna. So I recommend to get the tuna here.

This little restaurant has a lot to offer! The servers are friendly, efficient, and knowledgable. The food... honestly, probably some of the best Japanese food Ive ever had. The happy hour deals are spectacular. And the atmosphere is clean and relaxed. I cannot give Hama enough praise! My suggestion- get the Tatsuta Age; its delicious!

I wasnt expecting much because it seems to be a small restaurant from outside and it didnt have many reviews. However, I think Ive just found my new favorite Japanese restaurant in town. They have an outstanding service and delicious food. If youre going for a starter, order Tatsuta Age. Its delicious.

Its not great, our server forgot we were there and forgot our order shortly after remembering we were there. The sushi was bad, they took too log to serve the tuna so there was a strong smell coming off of them. To compound the issue both my wife and I got sick off the food.

Absolutely excellent food! The sushi was to die for, ad every dish we tried (we sampled a lot) was fantastic. The decor is modern and hip, the wait staff was excellent, the cocktails were on point...it had everything you would expect in a5-star restaurant!

I ordered the lunch menu and seaweed salad for lunch as take away. The price/quality ratio is excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant. Also: I took a peek at the bar while waiting and they have an excellent wine and spirits selection!
