the bento boxes are more than you could ask for...which i guess is the definition of a bento box. miso soup, salad, pork katsu, cali rolls, and shumai with a side of hot green tea is my personal favorite. prices have definitely increased so i cant indulge as much as i would love to. the sushi is decent-priced. servers are always very kind. however, once i paid and left a good tip and on my way out i was followed by a female server saying my tip was not adequate. i found this very disrespectful because i even use a calculator to tip, my meal well around 30 dollars. i did not like how they handled it as well. i was brought back in and they opened the check holder so i could give the server more money when i had already calculated a generous tip. it was insulting and embarassing for me and i hope to never undergo that experience again. if it werent for the food, that experience would have turned me away from coming back ever again.

I remember how horrible sushi tasted when i first tried it; thats because I bought it from a supermarket, never again. I was introduced to Sushi Yu a couple of months ago while at work. I decided to take a visit and try out the place. Mind you, after the horrible experience with the sushi from the supermarket, I have been to other Sushi spots downtown manhattan. I took my fiancee when she was my girlfriend because shed never tasted sushi before. We gave this place a shot and everything turned out better than I thought. The place was pleasant and the staff was very friendly. The sushi tasted fresh and delicious and my fiancee loved it. If we dont have time to go eat sushi downtown, we always come here and we are never disappointed. Overall, this is a great place to have a pleasant dinner that wont hurt your wallet depending on what you order.

Have been meaning to write this review for a long time. I came to Sushi Yu 2 on a mildly busy day with my family, it was Fathers Day. We had been waiting about 20 minutes, when this other family of 4 (same size as mine) strolls in. I can hear them conversing about the fact that they didnt make a reservation, how they should have made one, but should still have expedited seating because they come to Sushi Yu 2 regularly. It should be noted that before this my family would come here pretty often, Sundays on and off, and on special occasions. To your suprise this WHITE family was seated pretty quickly. The sushi is good, but you should be prepared for this kind of treatment if you are not white. There are many places in Washington Heights where you can get great sushi at same/better cost, with better service.

I have gone to countless sushi restaurants in Westchester and NYC and this is by far the very best. The rolls are delicious here. There is the perfect portion of rice on the rolls, not saturated with it like other places. My favorites are the salmon avocado roll, the spicy tuna roll, and eel avocado roll. The fish always tastes so fresh. The price is very reasonable as well. They even have lunch specials on Saturdays which is when I go for my weekly sushi fix. A very big plus. Having grown up in Washington Heights I am sooo thrilled to have another great restaurant to choose from in my diverse and eclectic neighborhood.

perfect for the neighborhood--nicely executed sushi & sashimi with some house specialty rolls. the complimentary edamame is a nice touch. have not tried the noodles and such (that nabe caught my eye) but thatll be next. ive seen them run some great special items in the past (toro, live scallop) but itd be nice to have some more premium items: theres no king crab, or for that matter, real snow crab (only crab stick); the bar selection is sub-par; there are no lovable knock-offs of famous dishes (yellow tail sashimi with jalapeno, rock shrimp tempura--im looking at you).

This place has gone to the dogs. The sushi is terribly made. The food is not fresh. Even the wasabi and soy sauce are subpar. Even though the quality is drastically lower than a few months ago, the prices continue to rise. Avoid this place. Heres my original review: Consistently decent food and fast delivery on weeknights. Im too picky to eat the sushi (I used to work in a famous sushi bar, and now Im so spoiled!), but I know a lot of locals who love it. The kitchen entrees are very good. Its definitely worth a try if youre up in Washington Heights.

Girlfriend and I walked here from 104th St. It was quite a walk and we were hungry. We also had a dog with this. They were very friendly and accommodating to our dog and let him sit outside, next to us. The breeze was blowing and the atmosphere was pleasant. Good service. Nice napkins and spicy wasabi. The sushi also tasted very fresh and the price was reasonable. We each got 2 rolls and 1 large bottle of Saki. The total was $40 not including tip (the sake was $11). Would definitely come back here again. Thanks.

Best sushi in Washington/Hudson Heights. The specialty rolls are particularly creative, tasty, and worth the extra cost. The space is small, but doesnt feel crowded. It is clean and service is fast. The small touches...like warm towels and a tray of complimentary edamame to start the meal, and a fruit cup with cherries and pineapple to finish as a palate cleanser, really add to the charm and experience of the restaurant. The sushi meat is of high quality. There is nothing bad on the menu.

Ordered large take out meal for eight including vegetable tempura. During meal found my six year old son bitting into a piece of fried yam that had shiny silver debris in the batter. Upon closer examination turns out to stainless steel wool in the batter of that peice and many more in the order. Called restaurant for explanation and returned the steel wool tempura. They offered 15% off on my next order. Sorry not good enough....

The food is two thumbs up!!! My favorite roll is The Dragon.....amongst many other rolls too. Lol! Its hard to choose so many choices. I always come back for more. Theyre starting to know my name by heart. Lol.

Ive only had take out here. I usually stick to the sushi rolls. All the tuna rolls Ive had here are very good, but the salmon is not as good. The sashimi is good quality, but overpriced. If you are in Washington Heights, this is probably your best option, all the other sushi places are very inconsistent so you are playing Russian roulette hoping you catch them on a good day.

Top notch sushi in the Heights. They have a great menu and will customize nearly any order to suit your sushi tastes. The prices are a little high on straight sushi but the rolls are reasonably priced and filled with great flavor and fresh ingredients. The proximity to my apartment is why I appreciate this place so much. They practically know me by name now. Love it.

Decent place. I took my wife and kids for fathers day and my only complaint is that a lot of people who came after us were attended before us. It took them around 15 minutes for someone to come to us with a menu. I read some comments complaining about preferential treatment depending on your race, and based on my experience, I would have to agree.
