My new favorite Indian place! I dont really know how to order Indian food, but I went with the stuff that Ive had the most: Goat Curry, Chicken Tikka Masala (awesomeness), and Paneer Saag (spinach + cottage cheese). I love curry. It makes me eat 3 bowls of rice and keeps my stomach happy. I make it all the time at home and Ive never been able to make it with a strong authentic taste like the one I had here. The goat was tender and not game-y, and the curry itself was a perfect consistency and smelled heavenly. Chicken Tikka Masala is the typical Indian dish to order. Its like the spaghetti and meatballs of Indian food. The tomato base sauce mixes extremely well with bread and rice, and the chicken adds a wonderful texture. The chicken here was clearly chicken breast, but the way it was slow cooked made it very tender, juicy, and flavorful. Paneer is the best vegetarian alternative. If I couldnt eat meat and didnt kill myself abruptly afterwards, Id eat paneer all the time. Saag is just a spinach mixture of sorts with a very creamy consistency and strong spinach flavor. I always feel stronger after having saag.... This place doesnt have a liquor license, but youre welcome to bring youre own beer. They will even provide you with a chilled glass. We just went to the deli next door and got some tall boys to tip off the meal. For the amount of food we ordered, we had a very filling and affordable dining experience. I will come back with more hungry people :).

Ew. I ordered the Om Special for delivery. The lentil soup did not taste like lentils, just oil, grease and garlic. The spicy lamb curry was not spicy, had a layer of grease on top and had dry, flavorless lamb. The naan was good except that it didnt taste like garlic, and I paid $1 extra to have garlic naan instead of regular naan. I requested a side of hot sauce. I was perplexed when I opened the bag of sides and didnt see it. I called the restaurant. Me: I ordered a side of hot sauce. I know the white one is yogurt and the mango one is mango chutney, but what are the green and brown ones? Rest: The brown is tamarind sauce. The green is {whatever he called it}. We gave you that b/c its spicy but we dont have hot sauce b/c our meat is marinated and spiced before we cook it. And then I tasted the lamb...the dry, flavorless lamb that I requested to be made spicy. My co-worker ordered the chicken tikka appetizer. The flavor was okay. The meat was dry.

Friendly staff, attractive room with beautiful photographs of India on the walls. But it is the cooking that makes this a standout among Manhattan Indian restaurants. The menu could come from any of a number of other places, the use of spices is what makes Om outstanding. Vindaloo, Rogan josh, Goan fish curry are all outstanding. Dont miss the onion fritters or seeks kebab appetizers with a refreshing mango lassi. We will be back.

I ordered from here only because of the reviews. The chicken tikka masala was disappointing. It was very chewy and when I took a bite out of it, it was white on the inside. Usually when I order this from any other indian restaurant, they have been marinating the chicken for at least a little while, and the chicken should be tender, not chewy. The service was great, but I came for the meal. I will not order from here anymore.

I had excellent Bhindi Masala and Vegetable Korma here, though the portions felt a little small. The rice wasnt very fresh either but I really cant complain because it was all so delicious! Service was very attentive as well. Our waiter was very friendly and refilled our glasses multiple times without having to ask them. Definitely someplace to try if youre vegetarian since they have a very large vegetarian dish section.

Wont go there second time. We tried an appetizer to get a sense of taste of the food as we were planning to organize a small dinner there. We got a warning from on of the employees that next time we should order more!! Me and my wife were seriously offended and we got questioned on which part of India we were from!!! WTF! It was very disrespecting since we both are physicians and not used to this kind of insults.

Im English and have eaten at many many Indians across the UK, this one sadly is just ok. The staff are lovely but the food is just fine. The Tikka is a good effort but was a little chewy, the flavour dipped off quickly and the onion was a little old. Prices are spot on though and if you havent had much Indian before this is a good start, just hard to find good curry in NY.

Oms execution has slipped substantially in the past few years. Lamb tikka masala is tough and chewy. Both the vegetable korma and the mater paneer are heavy and doused with (visible) dried herbs but oddly not overly spicy or flavorful. Rice is dry. The space is small yet airy; a quiet retreat from the bustling street. Service is solicitous and pleasant.

Dish most recommended: Lamb Vindaloo - a bit spicy but it only adds to the already great flavor and is not simply spicy for its own sake like at many places. This place is spectacular. Possibly the best Indian food I have ever had. Fairly small but if you have a party of two you can almost always just walk right in and get a table.

We arrived around 7 on a Friday and we able to get a seat right away. We had a sweet and sour cauliflower dish as an appetizer and lamb kofta, mutter paneer and naan. As we ate the restaurant started to fill up. We had a beer and a mango Lassi (which I cannot recommend enough, I love mango lassis)

The food was the best Indian Ive ever had. Flaky crust samosas, fantastic saag panir. Chicken tikka masala was good, but weaker than the other dishes. Naan was crispy, flaky, and doughy. The service was a bit slow. A can of coke was served warm (with a cup of ice, but that can only do so much).

Hi, Im not sure if the staff reads these reviews but I am writing to inform you that I ordered from your restaurant last night and found a cockroach in my food. I will never eat from there again but I hope you fix this problem for future customers because it is disgusting and unacceptable.

Este restaurante es uno de los mejores restaurantes de comida de la India que está uno de los mejores aquí en al Upper East Side.

The meal combination is sort of heavenly actually.. I order here more than anyone should. The drawbacks can be it takes a long time for delivery. They also dont have coffee which I wish they did. But the food is so, so good. Highly recommend for great Indian!

Have not eaten at the restaurant yet, but have gotten takeout twice. SO impressed with the quality and quantity. My favorite is the Chicken Korma Pri Fixe...came with an awesome indian salad, rice, naan and sauces...only $15! Delicious food!
