If I could I would give a negative star. I have always loved Cafe Zupas food and we usually go with my office at least once a week. The past few months however, the customer service has gone downhill in a serious way. I am vegan and called to see if they could fax me an allergen list or ingredient list for their food. I was placed on hold for about 10 minutes and then someone else picked up and said she would check on that and was placed on hold again. When she got back on the phone she was very snappy and rude, almost irritated that I was even asking for that. I explained to her that I wanted to check on a couple items for dairy ingredients. She let out a big annoyed sigh and asked what menu items. I told her that most restaurants have this information available online and maybe they should think about doing the same. I cant be the only vegan or person with a food allergen that has eaten there. It has honestly been hard to even give them my money lately. They are never helpful when you call and will pretty much NEVER take a to go order over the phone. They make you come in and push you through the line just so that you can sit and wait there for 20 minutes. Then when you are there the customer service sucks as well. They are constantly rushing you through the line and act irritated when you want to sample a soup or have a question. They have also changed their portion sizes which has made it difficult to pay their prices for the amount of food that you get. I would honestly rather get a can of soup and a bag of salad from the grocery store then deal with their prices and customer service anymore.

I have never written a review in my life. But my experience today has made me feel as though I have too. I have always LOVED Zupas. I go at least 2-3 times a month. I came in today and ordered my regular LARGE create your own salad. I was first met with the sight of ribbon cut lettuce. Then a new box to put it in. I have always ordered my salad to go, and know that they typically come in a Styrofoam container this was a clear plastic one. I immediately noticed that the portion size was considerately smaller. I brought this to the attention of the gentleman that was making my salad and he assured me that it was the same portion size. it was HALF the size that it was before. I then got to the end of the line and expressed again how disappointed I was with the salad as it was substantially smaller then before the change. the girl very rudely told me that it was the same portion size as before. and then walked away. Once I was at the cash register for check out I was told that my "large" salad was $10 mind you I had one extra side of ranch. No Drink! $10!! before I received much more and paid $7.58 at the most. I am so upset, and disappointed at this change. I will no longer be coming back to Zupas, They have lost a long time customer. So sad.... I wish I could post the pictures to show...

I have gone to zupas many times, I like your food, but I dont love it. The soups are very good the rest is average. My customer experience has been poor as of late. I go there on my lunch break and get a small size on the soup. Found out today, that in the last month the price has increased almost 20%. I understand that prices do go up but close to 20% - common!?!. A cup was just around $5 now its right at $6. hold the bread and strawberry and just make it affordable. I am having a cup to stay economic- geez. Also, the ladle of soup is tiny and the cup of soup that you fill up is barely 2/3 full. If that is the size (which I guess it is) then so be it, get a smaller cup so it doesnt look like you are cutting your customers short. The other issue is that everywhere else a cup of soup is full. So to add insult to injury you dont fill up the whole cup and you are now charging close to 20% more. UGH. Last but not least- its confusing for customer to go through the line without feeling like I am cutting someone off if I dont want salad and only soup.

I tried to politely send Zupas an e-mail through their website but ended up having it returned to me as undeliverable so I guess I will just have to post my comments here. Normally this is not something that I would even bother with but I really love Zupas food and was so disappointed today when I went to one of their restaurants and found out that they have done away with Romaine lettuce. Why would they do that? The worst part of all is that the only lettuce option is mixed greens. YUCK! In my experience half of the leaves in mixed greens are more like weeds than lettuce! I would never chose to pay for mixed greens so that has eliminated the salad option at this restaurant. For years I have always gotten the soup and salad combo but now unless I just want soup there is no reason for me to go to Zupas which is unfortunate since there is a location right by my house. Please, please, please bring back romaine lettuce!

Unfortunately, google forced me to give this crap atleast 1 star. I wish I could "HATE" this. This restaurant is absolutely ridiculous. We tried placing a call in order for a small company. Per their instructions, you have to call BEFORE 11:00 am to order. We tried calling for 15 minutes, and couldnt get any answer. Finally, at 11:03, someone picked up and they refused to take our call in order, because it was AFTER 11:00 am. After speaking with the manager, they still argued that it was after 11:00 am, and someone answers every single phone call, so we should have had no problem getting through, but they would not take our call in order. This has actually turned me off of all things Zupas, for all locations. Lets maybe get with the new era and allow us to place an order via an online option if youre going to ignore phone calls for a good portion of the time!!!

The food is good and feels good to eat, and thats about the best of this place. The staff is sometimes brusque as you walk down the line ordering. Sometimes I feel like Im annoying the employees with my presence. Also, you cant call an order in to be picked up, which is a mild annoyance. The ordering process kind of sucks. It feels clunky, I think thats the word. Its just not smooth. I havent spent any time thinking of a better way to do that, but I just know that when I order walking down that line it feels clunky. Other restaurants like Cafe Rio and Costa Vida have a similar ordering system, but it works for them. It does not work for Zupas, in my opinion. Ill come back, but sincerely only because I like the food.
