My girlfriend and I have both been to Amante twice. The first time was on mothers day. We ordered our food and a (half off) bottle of wine. After we almost finished our food and the bottle of wine our waitress comes over to us and said "Im sorry but the manager just told me that because its Mothers Day the bottle of wine is full price." After my girlfriend and I stop laughing, we told her that wasnt going to happen. We continued to say that you cant tell your customers that something is half off, and then tell us that youre going to charge us full price after we almost finished half of it off. So after looking at the waitresss blank stare for a second or two. She went back and worked it out with the manager. Needless to say. We didnt pay full price. Now because the pizza we felt was good that night, we desided to look past the wine incident, and give them a second chance. Their second chance was last night. We walked in from the the lower bar entrance. After seeing how drab and uninviting the bar was we went upstairs to the main dinning room. When we sat down the waitress gave us the wine list. We both asked to sample two of the wines. One for each of us. The waitress gave us the same blank stare and said that shell have to ask her manager if we could sample the wine..really?! Ive never been to a place that offers wine without being able to get a sample of it first. The waitress then comes back with one sample. She didnt give us the other one because they didnt want to open a new bottle. The second sample was their house wine they use all the time. I cant believe that they werent going to open one. So since we didnt walk out by now, we ordered a bottle of the unsampled house wine, and our food. Greek salad with anchovies and a small veggie pizza. The waitress comes back with two spotty glasses and a corked, already opened bottle of wine. That was a first for me. You always open wine at the table. Wile we were waiting a really long time for our food to arrive a big bar fight breaks out down stairs. An ambulance and about six or seven cop cars showed up. It even spilled up into the dinning room. We both couldnt believe what was going on! Now the food finally shows up. The salad that came out with the pizza (not before) was gigantic. Way to big. The vegetables on the pizza were all under cooked and soggy. The hole thing was crap! Not a good second try at all. Then when we cashed out so we could just leave this nightmare hell hole, we noticed that they charged us $3.00 for the anchovies. Thats about 75 cents for every little fillet! The hole thing was terrible! This my be considered a nice place to the bar fighting locals, but not for anyone who wants the usual expected dinning experience.......Stay away!

Lunch yesterday, 6" meatball sub which is supposed to be their "best" sub - imagine three pieces of half meatballs 1 1/2 meatballs total. Meatballs are actually nothing more than ground meat shaped, totally tasteless. Very little melted cheese with sauce on a bun. The chicken parm sub - diced bits of chicken, little cheese with sauce on a bun. Clueless waitress actually hid after asking how we liked our meal, no manager/owner onsite, no customer service.

Amantes has a small outdoor patio thats nice. There are corn hole games behind the patio. The inside bar is small, I wouldnt want to bring a large group inside the bar. The happy hour specials ($5) are generously sized- bruscetta, mozzarella sticks, etc.

The food is always good if they send the entree you actually ordered. The service is awful, the hostess seems to routinely miss phone calls and take the order incorrectly. If the service was better this would be a decent restaurant.

Wide selection of pizza and calzones, the calzones are roughly 10 inches. Looked like they had a lot of beer on tap but couldnt see that well because I was eating outside. Excellent service.

The chicken and avocado salad was awful! The chicken they used was prepackaged garbage that smells like cat food, and the french fries were not cooked all the way through. Very disappointed!

If Franks is "street pizza" then Amantes is "Neighborhood Restaurant" - Personally not in love with West Coast stuff, but the real Italian is excellent.

Its ok, though overpriced for average food. Many other places in the area I would rather go before Id consider here. I miss Ya Yas.

My husband and I go to Amantes a lot. Weve never been disappointed. I recommend the puttanesca and--of course--the pizza.

Local bar / restaurant. Go here to keep away from throngs in Eldersburg. Not a chain. Great salads and extensive menu.
